Who makes up the AFI - and why aren't they paying my cable bill? Or my therapist bill, for that matter.
35. not bad
only 31, but some of the numerous times (gone with the wind and singing in the rain)
better yet how many of them were literature first that you READ?
It's hard to take a list seriously that claims Forrest Gump is one of the top 100 movies ever made.
45
Edit: There were about a dozen that I've only read the book.
It's 8:30 and I've only been up for 10 minutes or so (so I'm sure there are other oversights that I'd pick up on) but where's American Beauty?! Surely it could have squeaked in in the 90s somewhere!
Wow 70!!! Some of those listed I just have no desire to see (Platoon, Pulp Fiction) I have seen most of the really olds ones because there was a movie theater that ran double features of old movies.
I knew this would happen. I just counted the ones I HAVEN'T seen - there were only 8. (FYI - it's not my favorite kind of movie, but Platoon really is worth being on the list. It disturbs me greatly - yet I made sure I had the tape. Tom Berenger's performance is extraordinary.)

I've seen 86. Not too shabby. But that reminds me, I need to Netflix The Apartment.
wow. only 26 for me. I guess I need to become MORE of a coach potato now.
38, which really surprised me.

I've actually seen all of them -- I know - I'm old -- but there's a few on there that I haven't seen in a decade or more.

I have seen 81.
I cannot believe some of the ones that I have not seen as they are absolute classics.
I am netflixing them now.
I have only seen 26...I really need to start watching more movies. There are quite a few I have just read though
69..appropos, no?
Netflix is now a verb?
I've seen 36... hm...
I've seen 80 of them.
Most of the films that I haven't seen are ones that I've avoided.

54... many of them not in years and years. (I saw Close Encounters when it was first released, and not since.)

36. There was a time when I was trying to get caught up on films that I "should" have seen, because they were such classics, etc. I obviously didn't get very far.
I've seen all of them (yes, even the ones that aren't really classics) and about 200-400 more true classics that should be on the list. This list is heinous.
Only 15. Oy. I should watch more movies I guess.
justme2-
I agree. The list is really bad.
only two films prior to 1930 ... hmmmm ...
