3. It doesn't bother me if only a few people know. However, if very close friends don't even call, I do get a bit hurt. I think I've been a 4 in recent years because negative things keep happening around my birthday and I just wanted someone to remember. Last year I was supposed to be in Vegas, but ended up going to a funeral instead.
3. I don't get too excited. I've had them before and I'll have more. Nothing new.

I'll go with 10 too. For the past few years Ive been inviting practically everyone I know to Joshua Tree on my birthday and buying the first round of drinks. Wonder what I'll do for my 25th next year. Seems like some sort of milestone year.
Ah to be 25 again. For that matter, to be 45 again or even 50
I'm probably around a 4. It's nice when people remember you on your day. Every year I'll get a message from someone I didn't expect to hear from. Usually the first message I receive (besides my parents), is from a dear friend who I've known since kindergarten. Every year she sings me a special birthday song. I'd be lying if I didn't say it made me smile. I look forward to that call every year.
I also had a friend from LA who always used to sing to me as Carol Channing and Ethel Merman. It was a hoot.
I'm also touched that DayDreamer started a thread in my honor (2 years in a row). It was definitely nice sharing the day with those on the board.
I make it a point of remembering friends birthdays (if they live in the same city, they get a cake made by me). So it's nice to receive the attention in return.
I would be a two. I like to be low key about it, and not bring too much attention to myself. but I will always accept presents and money.
always.
3, it's nice if people remember, but I don't go out of my way of making people realize this very important date in history unless I'm partying it up. Which is really frustrating to my friends...but now they make it a point to remember. I'm go awful with dates, and as much as I'd like to remember people's birthdays unless you are direly important or your birthday somehow coincides on some day of significance for me, I usually have to be remembered. It's really nice when you just find a totally unexpected card, email, letter, or gift.
Isn't this a scale up to 5, or are people's attention whore-ness just off the charts around here?
I guess so, huh?
LMAO at your signature..."It's harder out here for a ho."
Thanks. It's about 6 months stale but I haven't thought of anything to replace it yet.

I'm a Christmas baby, and since I have to share my birthday with the messiah and all, I tend to get overlooked by most but my immediate family. It does make me feel really awesome when someone who isn't my mother actually remembers it's my birthday and takes the time out of their holiday to give me a ring, but I definitely do not expect it.
