jeb's not smoking anything and knows that if he had a different last name he'd be the front runner right now. but he doesn't and he can't and he won't. 'course he'd probably not even be in a position to be considered without it. irony.

"What Huckabee, a former Southern Baptist minister, doesn't say: As historian Mark Newman writes, many Southern Baptists once "defended segregation in the sincere belief that it formed part of God's plan for the human race," and sometimes "cited biblical verses" in support of racial separation."
Exactly--and it wasn't exactly a picnic for the suffragettes, either. I love how Huckabee says, "we had to go back and amend the Constitution" as if it were something that just happened one day.
I just refuse to believe the United States of America will ever have a President Huckabee. It just sounds ridiculous.
I like how he evokes women's suffrage and still finds time to sign ads proclaiming the need for women to return to playing the part of the subordinate to the man.
I find it somehow amusing that Huckabee is so close to Huckleberry.......if only his first name were Finn so that at least while role call was being called people would call
"Huckabee, Finn"!
Here's my take on Huckabee. He comes across in interviews and such as a really down-to-earth, likable guy. He oozes charm and charisma. Now, once you actually investigate his beliefs, it is downright scary some of the things he spouts out. What is even more disturbing is that he actually wants to make his beliefs the law of the land, Constitution be damned.
As much as previous Republican presidents have paid lip service to the religious right, it was mainly a show for votes. Huckabee actually places his evangelical bible-belting rhetoric above all else. It isn't a means to get elected, but rather, his main drive to be elected.
Interestingly, there is a sizable portion of the Republican party that doesn't want a President Huckabee, because his faith goes so far as to actually want to do such radical things as help the poor, things Jesus was no doubt for, but are not very popular notions in Republican circles.
