I'm going to post a brief reponse here to some questions I've gotten tonight via PM tonight. When I set up the board, I came up with a list of some very basic guidelines as to what was acceptable to post, and what wasn't. You'll find those linked conveniently at the top of the board. Those guidelines were made intentionally to be open to interpretation, because this site is - the good, the bad, and the ugly - a community. As such, most of what we deem unacceptable as moderators, are things that the community as a whole objects to, publicly or privately to us.
Are there things throughout history here that should have been removed and weren't or vice-versa? Definitely, and I'm the first to admit it. There's two important things to keep in mind though. First of all, is that this is a message board, and in the scheme of life, death, and other fun things like that I'd hope that no one takes any of this stuff too seriously, or too personally. The second, is that this site isn't anonymously run, or monitored, and as the fella at the top of that hierachy, my door is always open. There's about a gazillion ways to get in touch with me here, as most of you know. If there's something you feel should be removed and hasn't, or if there's something that was removed you feel shouldn't have been - contact me. We might not agree, I might not be right, but what's important is mutual respect, and communication. That's how a community succeeds.
Goodnight all,
Rob
p.s. One wee-addition to the above of something that's important to keep in mind is to remember that everyone's levels of what's funny, what's offensive, etc. are all different. Disagreeing with others assessments of things is fine - just respect their right to feel that way.
