They literally make my stomach churn, the little f*ckers.
Sorry. I just saw a giant one on the sidewalk and I still feel naucious.
In Florida we had Palmeto Bugs... flying huge roaches. I hated them!
when i was four there was a potato bug the size of a tennis ball can in out bathtub that crawled in though and open window...
Disgusting. I hate Palmetto bugs as well. Once when I was down in florida one flew and landed on my cheek. Absolutely vile creatures.
i hate cockroaches. we have them everywhere here. and they're huge. and the fvckers fly. it's not a good situation. flying 4" cockroaches. yuck. and the worst is when you kill them... they CRUNCH. not only can you hear it, but you can FEEL it. yuck! i've got all sorts of heebie jeebies just thinking about it.
In 1974, while travelling cross country by bus, I stopped in New Orleans & wanted some lunch. I went into this lunch counter. I sat down & right before ordering i saw one the size of a buick walk across the counter. The waitress took her fist & smashed it & flicked the remnants away. She never cleaned off her hand. She than said,in a most pleasant voice, "Can I help you" ? I said not anymore & left
Another time, after getting out of the service in the late 60's I worked in an office building in NYC. My boss told me to go to the basement for some old files. I turned on the lights & saw about a million waterbugs go in as many different directions.
we have palmetto bugs in Palm Springs...once I realized they are more scared of me, than I them.....I was fine. Since I hired "bugboy" to come spray once a month......haven't seen one in 4 years....and bugboy is cute.
Last year it was crickets....EVERYWHERE.......
I loath bugs of any sort! Actually, it's more of a bug phobia. When I see one (which thankfully isn't very often) I turn into a little girl. It stems back from when I was six or seven and reached up and into our mailbox only to pull out a very much alive Praying Mantis. I haven't been the same since.
In college, my friend captured one and microwaved it TO DEATH. It stood still, and when my friend opened the door to the microwave, it scurried out. YUCK!
Cheno--That is the most frightening proof I've ever hear that what they say about cockroaches after nuclear winter is true. GROSS!
I go to an all-girls school, so you could just imagine to squealing, screaming and squeaking that went on when my RA found one in the hallway. She was hopping about trying to get away from it with a big boot in her hand, waving her arms and shrieking. It was huge and gross, but the pain in my ears was actually probably worse than how nauseous that bug made me. I hate all bugs; especially enormous ones.

Oh dear lord. This thread just brought back not so fond memories of my first apartment. Blech!
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I guess being born in pine-roach land (aka the south) has conditioned me not to care.
OH, I find them gross, but if you need one squished, I'm your man. I rather enjoy snuffing out their life as I believe cockroach killings are probably the only death that earns you positive karma.
bwsinger, when are you moving to hawaii? there are ALWAYS cockroaches that need squishing.
I really hated those giant flying ones. In Houston, we referred to them as tree roaches. They love to walk on the ceiling and they're really clumsy. Invariably, if I approached one to kill it, it would fly up and land on me and if you've ever had one of them touch you...well...you know the dance steps. They are the ONLY insect that truly freaks me out. Bees, wasps and spiders dn't bother me at all, but those tree roaches are the stuff of nightmares. Sometimes they make a loud "POP" sound like bubble wrap when you step on them. EWWWWWWW!!!!!!!
Ew. I really hate cockroaches. They never seem to die...ever.
I hate em too. I saw a few in my kitchen late at night... so I bought those little trap things and not one of em has been stupid enough to get caught in them, but I haven't seen any for months so maybe they left... I dunno...
this made me think of Hotel Rwanda such a powerful movie...
i have the secret to killing cockroaches. soapy water. lots of soap. spray it on them and they die almost instantly. can't breath cause of the soap. it works! and much better then feeling the crunch.

Yich. Hate cockroaches. I'm not a bug person, but I can handle most... not those buggers, though.
Thank god I live in a relatively cockroach-free environment...
I live in floria, and I know what you mean...ECH! Disgusting. However, when they happen to get in the apartment, my cats love to play with em!
While we are at it, I also hate flying stining insects like bees, wasps, yellowjackets, hornets & the occasional dragonflys
ew i'm feeling all squirmy right now, like there's a roach on my leg or something. blech!
