Cool poster! I hadn't seen that yet. I'm extremely excited for this...my father raised us on Bob Dylan, and my husband, Christian Bale is in it. Score!
This movie looks AMAZING. So many great people are in this movie, and I loves me some Dylan.
Can't wait to see it.
I'M STILL HERE!!!!
Look who's HERE!!!!

Just saw it. Holy ****, this movie is AWESOME! It's basically the same sort of structure as VELVET GOLDMINE, only with Dylan and not Bowie.
It's a really really funny and cool film. It only gets funnier the more you know about Bob Dylan.
I'd imagine it has very little box office potential though.

And wait until you check out who they got to play Allen Ginsberg.

I'm going this week and can't wait! How was Cate Blanchett?

Best Bob Dylan ever. Even better than the actual Bob Dylan.
I think, in my opinion, the best Dylans were:
1) Blanchett
2) Heath Ledger
3) Richard Gere
4) Ben Whishaw
5) Christian Bale
6) Marcus Carl Franklin

Here are my thoughts more detailed:
I'M NOT THERE is a hilarious and surreal mosey through the life of one of the most controversial artists of our time: Bob "Booger" Dylan. However, unlike a WALK THE LINE or a RAY in which Bob Dylan deals with the unfortunate death of a sibling early in life and must allow that to haunt his days and nights for eternity, Todd Haynes decides, instead, to give people cake when they specifically asked for salmon. He does this by hiring six different actors to represent the various crazy eras of Dylan's existance. It's a bold move; one that could have either tasted like delicious fresh goat cheese shredded on top of Honey Nut Cheerios or like un-delicous chocolate sauce slathered on top of an Italian opera singer's diaphragm. It was an audacious way to create a movie and when the lights dimmed, I began to shake a bit in my bootsies, especially as I do not fancy Bob Dylan as much as other sandwiches.
That bootsie shaking soon grew slower...slower...slower before eventually stopping completely. The surreal conceit works because, in Haynes' eyes, Bob Dylan is not really a person but a fluid entity: Someone who is able to shift into one persona...and then another...and then another. He believed something similar of David Bowie, whom he fictiously chronicled in VELVET "Booger" GOLDMINE.
The movie was actually much funnier than I expected because it exposed the comic tragedy of Dylan's life: A man whose life was spent trying to change completely and utterly only to fail and then get rewarded for failing. It's funny...but with an edge that makes you think.
It's definitely not a movie for everyone and the more you know about Bob Dylan and his life, the funnier it will be. It's told in a lyrical fashion and there is absolutely no plot structure to be found. The stories are not broken up into segments but flow into one another. This leads to a constant feeling of crazy discovery. Each scene is like that science exhibit where you stick your hand into the black curtained hole: It can go anywhere or be anything. I would venture to say that this movie even gets even more surreal as it goes on.
I'm almost tempted to recommend this only to hardcore Bob Dylan fans but that would not be koo because I am not one of them. Even if you know nothing about his life or times or his lifetimes, you should still be able to enjoy this as a mediflation on how people respond to their idols and their icons or just their response to art in general. Even if you hate this movie, you still won't be able to stop watching. It's so compelling and so riveting. I snoved it.
Excellent! While I've never been a huge Dylan fan I love anything Todd Haynes puts his magical fingers on so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Todd Haynes is awesome. I really need to see SAFE and POISON. FAR FROM HEAVEN is one of the most amazing films I've seen in years.
I am quite excited to see the movie, but I am a little frightened.
I have been a huge Dylan fan my entire life.
Adore Haynes. He is brilliant.
I've decided if my novel gets published and anything about options comes up, he is undoubtedly the director I'd want.

Huh?
I've had Honey Nut Cheerios with the goat cheese. Quite good actually... once it's marinated in pickle juice.
It's great on cake.
I bet goat cheese and cheerios beats un-delicious chocolate sauce slathered on top of an Italian opera singer's diaphragm.
What the f*@k does that even mean?

FUNNIEST MOMENT:
Blanchett shouts at a statue of Jesus on the Cross to "Do your old stuff!"

Did no one else see this movie? Christian Bale at a revival meeting is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I updated my thoughts earlier on who the best Dylans were earlier on in this thread.
I can't believe Heath Ledger isn't around anymore. This is his best performance, definitely.
Like I said in the other thread -- I STILL haven't seen it, but I just read that it's scheduled for DVD release on March 4th. :)
I'm Not There
We thought his was the worst Dylan of all.
