While my enjoyment of this film was lessened somewhat by learning the news about the Zimmerman trial almost immediately after I left, I still say it's a go-see.
It's Almodovar returning to the brew of sex, surrealism, camp, and glamour in the WOMEN ON THE VERGE vein, whipped up to a light-as air-froth (literally!). It's not a major work by any means, but he seems to know that and just wants the audience to have a goofy, escapist time.
He succeeded. Highly recommended to those who wish airline travel was sexy and glamorous!

I agree!
Having loathed his last film (The Skin I Live in) and not liking at all the one before that (Broken Embraces)..I was just so happy to see him make a happy film that, while lightweight, was still typically Almodovar..
and Hello, Hugo Silva!!
I saw this confection two weekends ago. It was a visual delight and a completely absurd, lovely time. I totally want to do mescaline with Spanish stews now.
I'm happy to learn that Pedro's working with Cecilia Roth again. I didn't care much for 'The Skin I Live In' either despite being a huge fan of the Almodovar brothers' work. Every time I watch an episode of 'True Blood' I start imagining what treatment Pedro would give a vampire story on the big screen.
'Habla Con Ella/Talk to Her' is the only movie I've watched that made me shed a tear.
