I can't believe it was directed by Jim Sheridan.
The scenes between 50 and Terrence Howard must be excruciating to watch. I always cringe a bit when I see a person getting so outacted by someone else.
So..was this a good review or a bad one? I can't really tell..
A more accurate title might have been, "I Got Rich But Just About Everybody Else Died Tryin', and So Did I, Almost."
That was perfect!!
"he wants money for athletic shoes"
Athletic shoes? Who the hell says that?

Sorry, for a moment there I really tried to picture 50 Cent saying "Athletic shoes.." ...........
URGH! Was that you then who called going "FITTY CENT SAYS ATHLEEETIC SHOES"
I should have known.
Yay. I'm really excited for this movie. Hopefully every other gangster kid will realize eventually that if they got shot 9 times and deal drugs, they can be like 50 cent too!!

Um no..God Tiffany I'm not that immature. Sheesh.
I actually want to see this out of pure curiosity...will it be inspirational or will 50's speech completley annoy me? ....

If you're going to see this at a time when Shopgirl and Capote are expanding, I'm going to have to kill you. You're not an asset to the human race.

Waha but I've already seen Shopgirl and Capote SO...
Newsflash: this is America, people choose what movies they want to see for themselves.
B. Are we restricted to one movie apiece? Who says DY won't see all three?

"Waha but I've already seen Shopgirl and Capote SO... "
You now have permission to kill me.
Yeah you all should know DY sees EVERYTHING before it's offically released...I blame his car. Stupid thing. And he doesn't bring me anywhere! Well no not true he brings me everywhere..but seeing as how I've seen neither Capote or Shopgirl I for one will most certainly see those before anything with 50 Cent.

I bring you everywhere it's possible for illegal children to go!!
Cruel- I don't think I will this time...you could of course blame it on the pixie sticks I ate that made me surprisingly relaxed and mellow.
Blech speaking of this movie, I just read in some CQ article or whatever that 50 Cent is well on his way to being another Jamie Foxx-winning actor... how does that make sense anyway?
How exactly do you win Jamie Foxx?
Exactly why I was confused! They must mean Oscar...they just worded their sentance...oddly.

I heard something about this on the radio this morning. Some council member was mad because the bill-boards for the movie promoted violence to school children. It had a picture of 50 cent holding a microphone in one hand and a gun in the other. Or something like that......
Yeah, and I'm usually the last one to complain about things like that because personally, I don't think it's the actors, producers, whoever you want to blame's fault if some kid you know, goes off and has sec after a movie, or shoots someone even after a movie. But this was really something I didn't like just because it's basically saying "Hey kids, if you get shot 9 times and become a drug dealer, you can get famous too!" Whatever happened to the "it's not about the money and fame it's about the music?" Well 50 Cent is certainly all about the music. Really. Just use the title of his movie as an example.

You took the words out of my mouth.

Get Rich or Die Tryin'? It could be that I'm pre-judging this movie just because of the awfulness of 50 Cent's music but it's really not the greatest message to portray...and again, like Sally said, that's saying something as I am pretty lenient as far as inappropriate movies and what not but seriously..
Ebert is one of America's foremost authorities on film. I may disagree with him from time to time, but I'd rarely call him wrong.
I've never had respect for Roger Ebert. He's also been a sham critic, with arbitrary reasons on why he likes or dislikes a movie, and nothing substantial to say about the state of film. If it wasn't for his TV show, he'd be a nobody.
You're just losing respect for Ebert NOW? Hate to break it to you, but he hasn't been a reliable critic for years...
But, isn't this all subjective? I'm sure there's people who agree with him most of the time.
It isn't even a matter of agreeing or disagreeing with his tastes. Neither his written reviews in the Chicago Sun-Times nor his comments on his TV show are enlightening or incisive. He seems to have very arbitrary reasons for liking or disliking a film (he once panned a film solely on the basis of its costumes, or thinking that period films were out of fashion), and seems to miss the premise or themes of a lot of major movies (I don't think he had any idea what the Lord of the Rings films were about). Most of the time, I find that he talks out of his butt.
