Posted: 4/24/10 at 11:58pmI am! I just wish she would slow down- it's hard to understand what she's saying sometimes. Her monologue was fun though!

Posted: 4/25/10 at 12:01amShe is clearly nervous but she does recover and has been funny in all of her skits thus far. The wikipedia woman was so absurd and hilarious.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 12:52amShe's fabulous. I don't know that this format is ideal for her, because she does get nervous, start talking too fast, and drop lines, but she does have that it factor, and she's been consistently funny.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 1:16amSo far I am enjoying it. We are 45 minutes in. I liked the Cherry Battle. The last cherry actually made me laugh out loud. She is flubbing lines though. She even seemed to laugh about it during the Wikepedia skit.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 1:21amGabby was totally game and a lot of fun, but she was definitely nervous and misreading cue cards, and the miscue in the alarm clocks sketch. I loved her Jamaican accent! Cherry Battle was so silly but I laughed at the cherry with the face too!

Posted: 4/25/10 at 2:29amI was sure they were going to do a Kenan-as-Monique Precious send-up, but they didn't go near it! Maybe she refused, or maybe they just couldn't think of anything funny.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 2:41amMissed opportunity! I don't believe that they couldn't think of anything. That movie is ripe for parody.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 3:17amI was a bit surprised also but I can see why they may not have gone near it. It's kind of hard to make Mo'Nique's charachter funny in my opinion. But I was half expecting them to do a parody.

I didn't watch last night, but that Weekend Update line was the first thing that went through my head when I read about this law last week.
It's a slippery slope and a very scary precedent.
Oh, and I love Gaby too!

Love Gaby, too. And, I love Suze Orman's tweets from last night:
"Oh my god they are spoofing me on SNL"
"I think Kristin Wig does a great job of me being me. Since you are asking I take it as the highest form of flattery. A true milestone"

The episode started out rocky, I thought, but it began to pick up like twenty minutes in or so. There was a Suze Orman sketch early on that seemed to exist only to remind us that she's a lesbian, but it started turning around after. And Jenny Slate did Tina Tina Shanooz again, and she makes me laugh every single time.
And I loved the Frank Sinatra sketch.

Posted: 4/25/10 at 12:55pmThe Suze Orman impressoin is one of my favorites from Wiig, loved Tina Tina, meh on the Sinatra sketch (though funny they were using actual critics like Isherwood reviewing the show), HATED the public employees sketch, Hamilton sketch was icky (but that was the point I suppose), hated the lack of Andy but the digital short was great, and pleasantly surprised by the Steve Harvey sketch. There were some references to Precious in the opening monologue (love) and the Hamilton sketch when Gabby is supposed to be promoting the film but the material in the film is pretty hard to get a laugh from, so I understand why it did not go beyond those two examples.

I love the Suze Orman too, but this one was a little weak. I liked the live cherry falling in the digital short. the opening had me thinking dubious thoughts i must admit. and yes the Steve Harvey was funny and almost spot on actually. what would have been funnier almost is if you prounounce the Iceland names no one can pronounce. The only "funny" thing I have seen people remotely make fun of in Precious is the chicken scene. not me, but i have read some posts about it elsewhere. I liked the Wikipedia sketch.
As far as her flubbing her lines and the "errrrrrr Department of Motor Vehicles" instead of the flow and letting it go, I just put it down to nerves. It didn't bother me near as much as some people.
The one sketch I always like when a man is the guest host is when they all sit around and sing a song and then bring random stuff up. (last week was Breakfast at Tiffany's) Maybe they should try that with women, but I guess it would not be as funny.
I actually laughed at the accents for the Dutch Sinatra thing and the way they had to rename everything. and the reviews.
I like when anyone breaks...especially seeing Bill cracks me up
