Reminds me of one of my favorite obscure movies "Mother, Juggs, and Speed". (Harvey Keitel, Raquel Welch, Bill Cosby), circa 1970's?
Hilarious black comedy re EMTs.

I'm not trying to jack the dead head breaking the foot but didn't that movie have Larry Hagman in it too. I remember it.

I'm sorry about your neighbor too, but that story is very funny, like something straight out of a movie. Anyway, it sounds like she had a great sense of humor.

I hope your foot's better soon! - Barb

I gotta ask, what were you doing there to begin with?

I was with her when she died. She lived across the hall and been ill for some time. I was there with her cousin and another friend.

They came to get me when things looked bad.

Well, clearly they got worse...

And my foot is feeling a little better.

Oh, Tom, there are no words!

...except "ouch" and "damn!"

...and "condolences," of course, too... for your foot and your neighbor.

...not necessarily in that order.

"Ouch" and "Damn" followed by a "Guffaw" pretty much sums is up...

And pretty much in that order...

b12b said it better than I ever could, but yeah, Tom: So sorry about your neighbor, but that is pretty funny, in a sick and twisted way!

Glad your foot is starting to feel better! (So, I'm assuming it wasn't really broken, just badly bruised...?)

Very black & blue and swollen; the toe is actually broken, the foot bruised. Pretty.

Hopefully, I'll be able to wear a shoe soon!

Ah...yes. I once broke my big toe by dropping something heavy on it, as well. Whole thing turned black, toenail came off, etc. Not fun. I hope this doesn't happen to you, but mine still hurt for years afterward. I could wear shoes, but if there was any pressure applied, or if the profile of the shoe was too low, it hurt. Good thing it was the 90's, and boxy shoes were in!

Again, hope you heal fast! re: I broke my foot moving a dead body...

I broke 2 toes on one foot by ..... running into a wall. (No joke). I was chasing my cat around the house and I misjudged the opening to the doorway and slammed my right foot right into the wall. I had fun explaining that to the doc.

Ow, ow, owie...

Explaining to my boss was just funny. (She's got a good sense of dark humor)

When I called in sick for Malaria was more difficult. (I caught it in the 80's in Mali, and am always susceptible for relapse. It's only happened twice and always a weird phone call: "Um, what century are you living in...?")

I'm thankful for the regrets, but I would really like some more dark humorous reactions.

It is "funny" after all. (I'll deal with the grief on my own, but could use the humor, right now, with all of the creative people on this board!)

Of course, the biggest question I get is:

Is her apartment available?

It is... re: I broke my foot moving a dead body...

Someone nice, please!

I honestly don't know. Even my mother asked.

Only in NYC.

(My place is infinitely smaller, but even the deceased said I had the better kitchen--that's why I'm not taking it! Otherwise, fantastic apt!)

YANK, don't you dare! I have that program and it is my first line!! hehehe.

Good writing exercise, though.

I'm not quite sure it that adds to my pain and suffering, or contributes to the comedy!?!?

This whole story reminds me of my worst nightmare: being a pallbearer and the casket dropping and the body falling out; I kid you not!!
