I used to love those things, Iflit.
Sickening sweet liquid but they were fun.
Sometimes I ate the wax - chewed it like gum, actually.
Are you calling me strange?

You're old enough to have eaten the wax, but you don't remember the Teaberry Shuffle?
How did it taste, anyway?
Alright...at the risk of leading the thread down a tangent...does anyone at all remember Banana Flips? A disk of sponge cake, banana cream filling and the cake folded over, but not evenly, so that some of the filling was revealed?
That's right, Moony, you heard me.
What do you think it tasted like? Wax!

Vaguely, Iflit. I don't think I ever had one. I was really into moonpies. No jokes, Rath.

I don't remember Banana Flips.
I remember the Banana Pie made with Vanilla Wafers, though.
Gee, I remember Vanilla Wafers when they were marketed as Vanilla Wafers and not "Nilla" Wafers.
Oh, and I always chewed the wax. I use to life the wax candies...there was this harmonica thing that you could play and then bite and devour.
but Banana Flips? No.
Then again I was the kid who ordered Banana Splits without the banana. The chubby kid who was happy with the three scoops of ice cream (but no strawberry).

I remember those harmonicas! Music AND candy - didn't get any better than that!

It was a treat to stop in the candy shop on the walk home from school and buy one of those harmonicas.
The wax was indeed like chewing gum.
I loved those too iflit.....I think they're still made....somehow I think I saw them a few years ago.
DG.......I've never eaten in one, just heard the stories
I had been yapping about banana flips for years, but couldn't produce a shred of evidence that they were anything but a figment of my imagination. And THEN, a few years ago, at a rest stop on the Ohio Turnpike, I found the vending machines LOADED with them. Bought about a dozen and brought them back home.
Sadly, they didn't live up to the memory...

I also loved Fizzies. Like an Alka Seltzer tablet, but when you put it in water, it made a soda. Rootbeer was the best.
Once I was too impatient to wait for the tablet to dissolve, so I took a shortcut. I swallowed the tablet, then drank a glass of water. What an idiot! That's what the doctor said, too.
That could be because they'd been in that machine since 1968...

Oh, yes, BlueMoon. Fizzies. Gosh I totally forgot about those things.
They were fun.
Moony!!! LOL!!!!
well, now they have medicinal fizzies, they're called Airborne, same concept, but this is for first sign of flu, flights, or anywhere you could be around sick people.
there was nothing more gross than popping a purple fizzie in your mouth and foaming.....

Yes there was, Elph - throwing it up after swallowing it.

What about that colored and flavored powdery/glistening stuff that came in sealed straws?
Anyone remember those?
Fizzies. The lemon-lime tasted awful, but they were great fun. (No, it didn't take much to amuse me...) I was also partial to JiffyPop and it's expanding aluminum cover.
And really, who didn't love cherry Kool-Aid?
Pixie Stix - they still make them.
Awww, Moony - poor baby. Poor, stupid baby.

And who didn't ask a friend if they wanted a Hawaiian Punch and then punch them - just like in the commercials.
Hey Rath - want a Hawaiian Punch?

Ya know what else I kinda liked? Those little wax bottles with sweet colored liquid in them. They weren't really that good, but they *were* pretty cool.
Oh, YUM! You can definitely still get them. I bought some last month... they're still fun to eat (and chew)!
I believe the line is, "How'd ya like a nice Hawaiian Punch?"
And the response would be, "Shoooooo-ah!"
Just try it, Moony. You know I can take you.
