I meant the emotions of the scene and how it effected Harry in the aftermath.
I'm terrified of Deathly Hallows in some ways. Rowling has already killed off my favorite character and something tells me that my other three favorites (Ginny, Tonks, and Remus) aren't going to get out unscathed either.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
he must be dead, in the start of half blood they have the whole thing with harry getting kreacher etc etc he would not have him and the house unless SB was dead .
#29re: I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...
Posted: 6/29/07 at 5:24pmI hadn't thought of that. Of course Kreacher would know if he was really dead, or not.

OotP is my favorite of the books. The battle in the Ministry just screams "CINEMATIC!!" to me.
I think Half-Blood Prince will be the hardest to adapt for a movie, becuase almost nothing happens. About 3/4 of it is backstory, and then a whole hell of a lot of s**t goes down toward the end...

SPOILERS:
I believe JKR has said that both Sirius and Dumbledore really are dead. I think? I may be wrong. She has said that the two way mirror that Sirius gave to Harry will return in Deathly Hallows though.
#32re: I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...
Posted: 6/29/07 at 7:11pmShiksa, you're right. Neither of them are coming back. ESPECIALLY not Dumbledore. I think it would be way too cheap to have Sirius just pop back out from behind the veil going, "Hey, I was just faking! I was fine all the time!"

I have heard rumors that Harry will return to Hogwarts and speak with Dumbledore's portrait.
Didn't Harry break his mirror? Will he be able to speak through a shard, or does the mirror have to be intact?
#34re: I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...
Posted: 6/29/07 at 7:14pmI was just wondering the same thing, Evan. Of course, he does have all the shards, and he is a wizard. Couldn't he just put the shards back together?

Reparo!
But if the mirror breaks, does the spell break too? I don't know how it works over in Hogwartsville.
I guess is Sirius is still "alive", either stuck forever being the veil, or something, and he still has his mirror on him (we can assume he did), I guess they'd be able to talk to each other.
I think that was the most upsetting part of OotP. When Harry finds out about the mirror... AGH!
#36re: I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...
Posted: 6/29/07 at 7:24pmBut if Sirius didn't have the mirror on him (which I suspect, since it's not exactly something you'd take to battle), it would probably be at Grimmauld Place, meaning that it could be of use to Harry and whoever he needs to keep in contact with.

Sirius may have had the mirror on him when he went to battle, because he did say he would have it whenever Harry needed him. When finding out Harry was going to the ministry, I doubt he would just take it out of his pocket and put it away, he may have ran out of headquarters with it.
I can barely wait for DH, all questions will be answered.

I was so sad when Sirius died!!!
About the books, I can't reread any harry potter books, so I have to rely on my memory. Rereading them is so hard and boring for me. *shrugs*

Posted: 6/29/07 at 10:43pmThe cover of "deathly hallows" looks like the veil room....maybe from the other side of the veil....since it's dark in the ministry, maybe it's well lit and glowing on the other side...

Sirius was hit with Avada Kedavra(daver?) before he went into the veil. He's dead. But I think JK wouldn't have gone through all that trouble to introduce him if his character didn't still have a role to play in the story. I mean, there's a whole book dedicated to introducing him. Personally I think Deathly Hallows has more in store for us than we can even begin to figure out!
Plus the veil is pretty clearly going to figure into the story seeing as it's on two different covers.
Night707, that's too bad. I've read them like a million times. They're easy!

Posted: 6/30/07 at 9:21amActually, I do not think Sirius was hit with the Avada Kedavra. I think he was hit with a stunning spell. I'm gonna go check.

Well this is what the books said:
"Only one couple were still battling, apparently unaware of the new arrival. Harry saw Sirius duck Bellatrix's jet of red light: He was laughing at her. "Come on, you can do better than that!" he yelled, his voice echoing around the cavernous room.
The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest."
I always read that as he was hit by a stunning spell due to the color of spell mentioned and the fact that he had time to "react." JKR says that his expression changed, and with Avada once you're hit, you're dead. Plus the spell shoots green light.
I dunno, hopefully we will find out all these things. I was always curious what spell Hermione was hit with while at the Ministry.

Posted: 6/30/07 at 10:42amThis thread is making me more and more excited for the month of July aka the greatest month for any Harry Potter fan. I think that Sirius is in fact dead, just like I think Dumbledore is dead. I'm not really a fan of cheesy endings, and I don't believe JK will cheese us out at the end of Deathly Hallows. Obviously the curtain will come into play, but how I have NO clue. I think the far more interesting points will lie with a certain Severus Snape and whether or not he's good or bad. (I think he's good) PLUS I've always have my suspicions about Hagrid, especially now that his giant brother Grawp is running with the Death Eaters. Time will tell.
#45re: I just saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix...
Posted: 6/30/07 at 10:49amWell Grawp is still at Hogwarts with Hagrid, but I'm pretty sure Voldie will enlist the help of giants. I think I said it in another HP thread, but I think Hagrid might die. There's always a mention of how tough his skin is and how curses just bounce off him. Kind of lulling the reader into a sense of false confidence for Hagrid.

This is the least favorite of the books to me.. but after seeing the trailer it might just be my favorite of the movies.
Same here.
I am literally shaking with excitement for so many things right now, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows being one of them. I'm probably going to cry before it's even sad.
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

Yeah but in that book it says that Bellatrix Lestrange was shooting off Avada Kedavers left and right and if memory serves her fellow death eaters even yelled at her for it. I actually always got the impression she killed him almost on accident.
And I don't want to spoil anything for the movie but let me just say it's definitive, and even JK Rowling has said that the character is dead.
Grawp isn't with the death eaters. He was with Hagrid at Dumbledore's funeral, remember?
I think Snape is neither good nor bad. It's way more complicated than that. Does anyone else think Snape may have had a thing for Lily Potter?
Why can't the book come out today...

"Does anyone else think Snape may have had a thing for Lily Potter?"
Of course he had a thing for Lily! That was explained in the flashbacks in OotP. That's why he can't stand looking at Harry, because he has Lily's eyes.

I don't remember Bellatrix shooting Avadas off left and right, I do remember the huge deatheater in HBP doing that, and killing a fellow death eater. If Bella had killed Sirius with an avada kedavra, wouldn't the line have then changed to something like "Sirius was hit square in the chest with a flash of green." I definitely think he is dead, but I don't believe he was killed by Avada Kedavra.
I think Snape is goodish, or as good as someone like him can be. I don't think he is loyal to Voldemort, he makes excuses as to why he never killed Harry, but they just don't add up.
