Aww, Miniature Dachshunds are so much fun!!!!! They are so loving and adorable!

We used to have one growing up. He lived for about 15 years and one of my cousin's and his mother had one. He passed away recently but he also lived to be about 15 or 16. Also my sister and her husband have one (he's only 9 months now) and he is the most lively thing ever!!!

Yeah, as you can tell we have experience with these dogs. You'll love it!

Well, due to something pretty shady I found out about the breeder, the first puppy isn't going to work out. I was pretty sad. However, within the hour of telling the first breeder that I wasn't interested, I got an email from a breeder I had contacted a few weeks ago. The person that was sending a deposit for a beautiful little girl pup backed out and she wanted to offer her to me before calling anyone else. She has her AKC registration, her one year puppy wellness guarantee, a clean bill of health from her vet and all of her shots. By the time I get her she will be 14 weeks old, so her immune system should be strong. (I really wanted a red girl, anyway!)

And she is obviously plump and adorable.


I am putting the deposit down on her, so unless there is some unforeseen issue, she is mine.

I am so thrilled. I wish I had her today...lol. Now it's time to shop. I bought her the most adorable pink soft harness and leash. It has little pink gingham bows. And believe it or not, Target has some of the most GORGEOUS dog stuff. They carry a Shabby Chic line in store that is so nice. It's not online for some reason. I think it will work nicely for her.

She's precious! We had a brown one like that, but he was a male. All of the dachshunds in our family have been males actually. My cousin's dog was all black and my sister's dog is a black & tan. So he's like the best of both worlds.

He is beautiful. I thought I would only consider a red, but then I saw some of the most beautiful black and tans. I am very happy with my little red, though. I love how shiny their coats are. I can't wait to spoil her.

i haven't been this riveted by a jerseygirl story since "the nanny named tang" ended. best of luck with the new pooch! i think you should name her angelina. sure, she'll be a homewrecker and have lots of kids someday, but she might also bring brad pitt into your life (okay, okay, brad is for me but still...)

Their coats are really pretty. My sister puts a little dab of vegetable oil in his dry food b/c it's supposed to make his coat shine more. It doesn't hurt them at all. She doesn't put too much, just a little so it can mix a little with his food. His fur is so soft and shiny.

I also read that putting a little baby oil or body moisturizing oil on their coats after a bath keeps them very shiny.
