Gotta love it. I also love "Undiscoved Lover".
What are your favorite cheesey songs?
Shake your love by deborah gibson
and that lipgloss song
My name is Julie- Lisa left you years ago. There are so many! "Billy Don't be a Hero", "Run Joey Run" (daddy please don't it wasn't his fault he means so much to me, daddy please don't we're gonna get mare-reed). "I've Never Been to Me" (I've been to paradise but I've never been to me), Ariel (she was a Jewish girl I fell in love with...) "Cheish the Love"- Kool and the Gang (and if you receive your calling before I awake). Mmm Bop probably is cheesey- I just never understood any of the words! "Torn Between Two Lovers" "Afternoon Delight".
Those are great! Torn Between Two Lovers! I LOVED that song.
By the way, I also hate songs with poor grammar- like "I've been looking at your photograph wondering where you at" Justin Timberlake saying witch you instead of with you. Shania Twain's "Looks like we made it, look how far we've come my baby, might have took the long road" Anytime someone says hur and thur instead of here and there.
"Do you know where you are going to?" That one always made my skin crawl.
Sueleen- it' effin 1:30 in the morning! I'm too tired to go on but I hope a lot more people post. This a fun subject! Happy Sunday. btw, if you were quoting Diana Ross- "... do you like the things that life is showing you- do you know?"
You Are Everything:
"Today I saw somebody who looked just like you
She walked like you do I thought it was you
As she turned the corner I called out your name
I felt so ashamed but it wasn't you, wasn't you"
Seriuosly, what??
I don't know where it ranks on the "cheesy" scale, but my iTunes just threw up Dolly Parton singing "Baby I'm Burning" and it thrilled me to no end.

"Which Way You Going Billy?" Can I go, too?
"My Eyes Adored You" Though I never laid a hand on you...
"Half Breed" The other children always laughed at me. Give her a feather. She's a Cherokee.
"If" a picture paints a thousand words, than why can't I paint you?
"Baby I'm-a want you"

Great, Sueleen. I had completely forgotten of the very existence of "Lisa" and now you've mentioned it and it's back in my brain and won't leave.

"And so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me"
Gotta love it - cheesy with a beat.
And aren't we all survivors?

i love Marianne Faithfull's version of I'M NOT LISA!!!
my vote for "cheesiest" is UNDERCOVER ANGEL by Alan O'Day.
I said, "What??!!?"
She said, "Ooh-Ooh-Ooh Whee!!!!!"
I said, "Alllllll riiiiiight!!!"
She said, "LOVE ME! LOVE ME! LOVE ME!"

I've always had a soft spot for Donna Summer. "I'm a Rainbow," "She Works Hard for the Money" and particularly "Who Do You Think You're Foolin'."
I know there are still some who think we shouldn't like her because of all that stuff about what she supposedly said and such, but with several years behind it, doesn't it all seem kind of silly now?
I love Donna Summer! I forget what she said, was it something about AIDS being God's revenge on Homos?

Donna *didnt* say it, it was all a manufactured brouhaha, & i think her music is genuinley decent, not neccessarily "cheesey".

supportivemom named most of the ones I was going to list, but let me add the whole Helen Reddy canon, including:
I AM WOMAN
ANGIE BABY
LEAVE ME ALONE ("Big Ole Ruby Red Dress...")
OH MY GOD!!!!
I have not thought about that song in AGES!!!!!
My mother HATED that song!
Whenever it came on the radio, after the first verse, my mother would sing "Who said you were-er?" It wasn't long after that song came out that my mother would only have the radio on the local classical music station.
I've always had a particular loathing for the Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night" and Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey"
bobby bare - dropkick me jesus
johnny preston - running bear
hank williams - kawliga
harry chapin - 30,000 pounds of bananas
For some odd reason Playground of My Mind popped into my head earlier this week. Can't get it out...
My name is Michael,
I've got a nickel,
I've got a nickel, shiney and new.
I'm gonna buy a whole lot of candy!
That's what I'm gonna do!
Cheesey early 70's pop!
I don't know, Norn. The 20 minute Macarthur Park Suite from Live and More is pretty high in calcium.

you are right, i cant argue!
did you know the same artist who designed the FOLLIES poster did the CASABLANCA RECORDS logo?
She was forty-one and her Daddy still called her "Baby".
All the folks round Brownsville say she's crazy
Cuz she walks downtown with a suitcase in her hand,
She is looking for a mysterious dark haired man..."
