I wasn't trying to be mean. The girl is enthused about her marriage and yet with only a few days before the big day, she's posting a message about it on the internet. People I'm familiar with tell me that the week before a wedding ceremony is fraught with last minute details. Her message was lacking spcifics and with so many bizarre stories about creeps who use cyberspace for their own purposes (some of them insidious), I felt I had to ask the question that needed to be asked.

Actually in my family we have a "cousin's council" in which the prospective bride or groom brings their "intended" to a get-together with the cousins. At that get-together we informally ask all the questions that have to be asked and days later report our feelings to the one who is about to get married. Most of the times this all works out fine, but there was one instance where so many red flags went up that my cousin Cara postponed the wedding and ultimately cancelled it completely. I feel we saved her a lot of heartbreak.

Love is blind, you know.

Mominatior, I've heard that too. It rained on my mother's wedding two years ago -- it was literally a monsoon wedding! That's when someone mentioned the "rainy wedding, sunny marriage" thing.

Not to worry. I met him via the Internet, however we have been dating face-to-face for 16 months. Our families all met each other last year and everyone gets along. We have been to pre-marriage counseling.

And yes, the week before is fraught with last minute details.
