...but I might make an exception for this guy.

What a hypocrite. He rallied against homosexuality, and yet he was on his fourth marriage. And in that delightful Alan Keyes/Phyllis Schlafly twist, one of his sons turns out to be gay. And quite content with it, it seems. (It doesn't say exactly that the son was gay, but since he was an advisor to Clinton on GLBT issues, I'm just assuming...)
eta: Duh. It does say the son is gay higher up in the article. So much for my reading comprehension skills.

Grave dancer!
Yes, the son who was Clinton's liaison to the gay community, Richard Socarides, is openly gay. And a great guy.
Well then, for his sake, I'll have sympathy. It says he maintained a relationship with his father, which I guess says something that was deep in his dad's character -- more than that right-wing guy from California whose name escapes me right now. (the one with the gay adopted son that he won't see anymore)
eta: Pete Knight. That's who I'm thinking about.

May I have this dance? And let's make it a polka!
Socarides doth protested too much, methinks

It does seem like people such as Socarides or Schlafly are trying to purge something in themselves when they go after the LGBT community. Maybe they blame themselves for causing their children's sexuality and try to diminish that guit and shame by trying to "help" others...who knows?
