I met Kristin Chenoweth at NFTY Convention! - PICTURES

Sooooo excited- Aaron Sorkin came to speak to NFTY convention this weekend, and who tagged along? None other that Kristin Chenoweth! I saw her in Wicked about 12 times, and since of course I always stage door, had met her before. And she remembered me (due to a blooper issue from last year which resulted in my autographed "loathing" notepad that she accidently threw into the audience and I got) which was awesome! My little sister and I were the only 2 people to get pictures with her and get to talk to her! I was very excited. Updated On: 3/7/05 at 08:16 AM

What the heck was she doing at NFTY convention? She must have felt a bit out of place...

Why were you two the only two to get to talk to her and get pictures? Were you the only ones who knew who she was? What did you say? More details!!!!

You have no idea how much I would pay to get a chance to talk to her. Maybe I should actually start going to USY conventions....

There were lots of people who knew who she was...
I heard a rumor before Aaron started speaking that she was there and backstage, and I flipped out and ran to look and didn't see her, and was searching all over. I thought the person I heard it from was kidding around. But I ran up to my room to get my camera just in case. Then Aaron started speaking, and did a Q&A thing with the audience. Someone asked his fav character on West Wing, and he said something about of course, the new reporter played by the wonderful Kristin Chenoweth, and wait, I think she's around, and then all of a sudden, there's a spotlight in the middle of the audience and she is waving at everyone and people who knew who she was totally flipped out. So then a bunch of people were trying to go up and get pics and autographs, and she didn't want to detract from aaron's speech and the person who was after him, so she (along with the "protection" of some staff) went backstage. I knew where the door was, so I grabbed my sisters and we waited there for her to come out. As soon as she did, we went up to her to start chatting, and she was like, I can't stop to take pictures, but walk with me, so we did. We chatted all the way to the front of the hotel, she took a picture with me, a picture with my sister, and then got in her car with aaron and left.

Elphie, it stands for National Federation of Temple Youth - it's a big nationwide organization of reform Jewish youth groups.

Pheww...that's what I thought. Good, now I don't have to feel stupid about my "out of place" comment.
I am a member of USY.
Why was Aaron Sorkin there? What did he talk about?

I will post the pics as soon as I get them developed, I just got back from LA to NY on a redeye flight this morning. And every year, NFTY gets someone famousish and Jewish to come speak to the 1500 teens. We've had the Friends creators (Marta Kauffman and David Crane I think), Adam Sandler (an ex-NFTYite), I don't know who else. It's a great event, that's why I still go now as a staff member, and I encourage all Jewish teens to get involved in NFTY, it's a great organization!

I have 3 sisters- the rest of the kids are people from my temple where I work, I take kids to see shows a lot. I don't know why only the thumbnail work, that's the way it is on a lot of the fan photos. I wish I knew how to fix that!

I was there too. In the back of the ballroom for the last night (I really thought he was kidding when he said Kristen Chenowith was there). It was my first national event, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was amazing. I got sick at Universal though, because of the rain. I'll post more later, I guess...

Oh Staci, I wish you had been up front with the rest of us cheno fans (who luckily were sitting close)!
And I second the getting sick at Universal, everyone I have spoken to since convention is sick because of being out in the rain all night. It was still awesome though...

Yeah it was. I think I went on the Mummy ride 4 times, and it took me longer to walk through the que then to wait on line. The friends who I was sitting with had no idea who Cheno is/was (since I don't think they cared enough to listen to me when I gave a quick description of what shes done), not that I could see anybody that wasn't on one of the monitors.

ah!!! liotte your story is amazing. i was there too (i'm sorry i never pmed you back) but of course my friends were like: who is she?

anyway, my own story of the event...aaron sorkin goes to my temple (it was my rabbi that introduced him) and so after kristin stood up and the staff took her to the backstage area, i ran up with my sister to see if we could get back there, because it was our rabbi that introduced aaron. he was like: yeah sure lemme see! but by that time, she had already snuck out. i was so angry though, cuz my rabbi told me that he had been looking for me to ask one of the questions, but he couldn't find me all day. if i had asked the question, i probably would have met her. oh well.

staci--i'm sorry you got sick at universal. i was on the last mummy ride, because we got stuck and the buses started leaving. so my friends and i were on the LAST BUS HOME FROM UNIVERSAL!!! it was actually funny cuz we were cold and cranky, and of course, wet.

i'm sorry for those of you who don't understand an iota of this post. i just get very excited when NFTY is involved!!!
