im ashamed to admit i still watch Legends of the hidden temple and guts on cable.. as well as Clarissa on Noggin.. I watch all the noggin shows i am so ashamed :o(
It's on Noggin? When?!
One of the two episodes of "Are You Afraid of The Dark" are...
The one with the weird eggs in the boarding school, the beautiful young woman who really old and dead, and the ghost in the swimming pool.
I'm not gonna sleep tonight.

When I was 7, despite my better judgement, I started watching a very atmospheric episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" with a friend. Within 3 minutes, we were both upstairs huddled under her bed in terror. :P

I wish I got Noggin. I used to love all these shows. I wish I could watch them now. My favorite AYAOTD was the one with the girl stuck in the mirror and there was backward writing all over the walls
I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove old school nick!!!!
I pity the youth of today for not being able to watch it.
That was some good stuff they have going.
Are You Afraid of the Dark with the new kids just didn't have the same punch as the original and the same goes for All That.
I hated Rugrats after Dil came on. I started watching that show when it first aired (I was like two or three) but that's when it jumped the shark for me. Hey, does anyone know that old 80s song "Wip It", the one that they use it for swiffer commercials now. That song was written by the people who created Rugrats.
Stupid trivia of the post. thank you thank you
I was in love with the old Rugrats. Dil came in when I was about 8. I saw the movie and I cried.
When you guys say "The Gnomes", do you mean "David, the Gnome"?

"The first episode of Are-You-Afraid-Of-The-Dark that I saw was the one with the librarian who made all the loud kids shut-up by locking them in a room forever and stealing their voices. She put those in a box that she carried around. I now treat librarians with the utmost respect."
AHH I remember this one!!
I LOVEDDDD Nickeoldeon. Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Clarissa Explains it All, What Would You Do....wowwww. Was Double Dare on Nick? I get my Marc Summers shows confused. I attended a taping of that once Hehe.
They should have a channel dedicated to reruns of all these shows...they dont rerun them often enough.

Okay, does anyone remember this...
During the day, before there was really "Nick Jr", there was this show and it was cartoon versions of fairy tales, but not just the common ones like Snow White, but lesser known ones as well? I learned my favorite fairytale from that show (this one about a princess and the coat of many different furs... anyone? no?).
And I SOOOOOO remember David the Gnome. Something in that used to scare me, but I don't remember what...

I was a little too old when I got to the States for a lot of Nick Jr., but I did like David the Gnome.
FF, Sean O'Neal is evidently doing voiceover work nowadays, according to IMDB. *shrug*
And I can't believe I forgot "Pete and Pete"! That show was brilliant. (I remember Michelle Trachtemberg on both that show and "Clarissa Explains It All." I watched a lot of TV as a child.)
All I remember from "Weinerville" is "I'm Bony, I'm Bony, leave me aloney!" :P

I admit, I don't like Nick as much, but there are some good shows:
Spongebob Squarepants: Very, very funny and good for both adults and kids. A clever adult joke once or twice, and exceptional animation. This show better last.
Invader Zim: Hands down, the funniest show Nick has ever aired. It was supposedly too dark though. Sad. How are vampire piggies dark?
Now, the worst show on Nick is definately the Fairly Oddparents. It's the most predictable, overplayed, show ever. It has the cheapest animation, the worst writing, and the worst stereotypes (The dumb males, the smart woman, the mean babysitter, the dumb parents). Not to mention, why watch when we know how the shows going to be: Timmy gets mad and makes a selfish wish, something goes wrong and he wants it reversed, but he can't, so he has to do it himself. God, not to mention the movies are HORRIBLE and un-original. In fact, this whole show is un-original. How many parodies can you make an episode about?
Plum -
I was in the Michelle Trachtenberg Fan Club.
Big "Harriet the Spy" fan and all (Gregory Smith, who played Sport, is now on "Everwood". Hot.)
I believe she was on an episode of "Space Cases" once... (Wow, what an obscure reference. Anyone else remember that show? I don't think it even lasted through the first season. The Black Ranger from Power Rangers was on it...)
The costumer at my college worked on the movie "Richie Rich's Christmas Wish" (where Michelle worked with David Gallagher of "7th Heaven"), and she says that Michelle was perfectly lovely to work with.
Yay!! Someone else remembers "Maya The Bee" and "Space Cases!!" I thought I was the only one!! And I remember every episode of "Clarissa", incluiding the Elsie Soaperstein one. And let's not forget, Michelle Trachtenberg was also on "Pete and Pete" as Nona Mecklenburg. Man, that show was bloody brilliant.
And isn't Suzy from "Space Cases" on "General Hospital" now?
Okay, so, I didn't have cable until I was like, 8, but we had it when we vacationed in St. Augustine, Florida--and that's when I fell in love with Nickelodeon.
"Roundhouse" was one of my favorite shows. With the dad that drove around in his Laz-Y-Boy and the guy dancers who were a) so cute and b) in NEWSIES, one of my favorite musical-movies.
"Clarissa", "Rocko" "All That" (with Lori Beth Denberg--first/second season) "Are You Afraid...?" (my personal favorite--well, the one that scared me the most--was the girl who was trapped in the mirror in that abandoned house and had written "HELP ME" backwards all over the wall? Creepy stuff, man. Oh! And the one with Melissa Joan Hart in the woods with the creepy women and the frozen boy who was all white and kept saying, "I'm cold. I'm cold.")
"Ren and Stimpy"--the one where they joined the army and had to peel potatoes and they were in a room full of limburgher cheese...
"You Can't Do That On Television" with the young Alanis. They threw up too much for me, though. But the slime was cool.
Oh, yea, remember when Nickelodeon used to be all about green slime?
Man. Good times. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood, hah.

Lori Beth Denberg did "Vital Information," right? I loved that segment.
"Legends of the Hidden Temple" was the greatest! I always wanted to be a Purple Parrot when I was little! I loved that show so much! The tiki men scared me. What were they called?
"Guts" was great too. I used to practice to be on that show every day when I was in first grade so I could climb the smokey mountain thing.
"Are You Afraid of the Dark?" made me horrified of vampires. It tooke me at least four years to realize vampires we're not real. It was after the episode of where the vampires took over the hospital at night. It scared the crap out of me.
I wanted to be on "What Would You Do?" too! I wanted to go to the wall of prizes.
"During the day, before there was really "Nick Jr", there was this show and it was cartoon versions of fairy tales, but not just the common ones like Snow White, but lesser known ones as well? I learned my favorite fairytale from that show (this one about a princess and the coat of many different furs... anyone? no?)."
SarahHIYE, you are not alone, I remember it too!! And I loved it! I think it was called "Grimm's Fairy Tales" and it had a distinctly anime vibe to it. I remember the fur coat one, and Snow White and Rose Red, and King Grizzle-Beard and...ee! Coolness! I even remember some of the theme song:
"Hey, come along and join the fun
It's the time for fairy tales
Magical kingdoms in the sun
Come along, come along
Meet friendly elves and witches too..." and that's all I can remember. God, I loved that show!!
"Write to me
Stick Stickly
P.O. Box 963
New York City
New York State
10108"
Lovely song, wasn't it?
Is Stick Stickly still on Nickelodeon?
I wonder if I can still reach him at this address...
Project!
"* "Doug" (I loved the episodes with "The Beets".)"
Those songs were extremely catchy! I can still hear them in my head!
"I need more allowance..."
~FF~, where the heck have you been lately!?
Kidnapped by Spider again.
But I wriggled free.
And now I'm at college, looking day and night for a play to direct.
If all continues as I think it will, I will have exhausted the resources of my college library (well, the racks of short plays, anyway) by midnight.
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Clarissa Explains it All
Dude Ranch
Salute Your Shorts
Wild and Crazy Kids
Double Dare
Nick Arcade
Figure it Out
Adventures of Pete and Pete
All That (older versions)
Kenan and Kel Show
- There was this other show, I think it was called "What Would You Do?". It had the pie coaster, and they gave away prizes and had people in the audience participate in various activities. I *loved* that show.

Now there are stupid cartoons on Nick. I miss the good old days! Same with Disney.

OH NO!! Doesn't anybody remeber 'Danger Mouse'?!! It was the BEST!!!!!
What I wouldn't do to have "Hey Dude" and "Salute Your Shorts" on DVD!
Oh, and definitely fav episode of AYAOTD: the Pinball episode. I think I've seen that 20+ times.
God, I'm 21. I feel so damn old now.
I mentioned this earlier, and will say it again...
