Posted: 4/23/13 at 10:53pmI went to see OBLIVION today, in an IMAX theater. The sound volume was so high that I had a serious headache by the end of the movie and I spent the first hour afterwards with that bizarre hearing dullness that you get when you descend in a plane and can't clear your ears. It gradually went away but I don't think I will be going to any more IMAX showings (which I used to really enjoy). The theater manager says that the volume cannot be adjusted as it is pre-set by the distributors. Am I the only one who can't understand why things have to be so loud as to be painful? (I enjoyed the movie in all other respects, which is the only reason I toughed it out to the end.)

Well, there is your problem. You enjoyed "Oblivion" so there is clearly something wrong with you.

I saw the last Batman movie in IMAX. It was excruciating. The sound was too loud. I had a headache, my eyes crossed and I think I had a panic attack.
It was garish. Honestly, I think viewers are too close to the screen to fully enjoy it. Bigger is not always better.
