"Or maybe they just don't care."
Not true at all in my experience, Phyl. I know a lot of actors (mostly Broadway ones) unhappy about the Imdb and Ibdb situation as well. Mostly because it's a site notorious for all sorts of errors, never mind the dob thing. And it is true that agents often just look at the year of birth and not the person, and automatically rule out actors as a result.
Also, there just aren't a lot of actors (that I know, anyway) that take BWW seriously, and those who visit at all mostly stick to the main board and seldom post.

It's sad that I have a sharp memory? I would hate to live in your world, toots.
For what it's worth, the waiting in line thread is why I remember you in the first place, and you have bitched about celebrity voice work more than a few times.
But yeah, it's me that's sad. Okeydokey.
Yes, sad. But, your memory can't retrieve a single time I was abusive or nasty to anyone on this board, because it's never happened. Something you cannot say for yourself. So yeah, you're sad.
Thank you, ghostlight. I wish actors would post here more often.

Actors are rarely going to post here, and you're seeing for yourself just exactly why - makes you an easy target.
Some sad, pathetic souls can't handle internet anonymity. Too bad. They get in the way.
Actors can simply post generally about things, and use PM when needed.
Have any actors you know tried to do anything about the situation, ghostlight?

Double LOL.
It's awfully dangerous to be throwing words around like sad and pathetic when you start a thread like this. Or when you say that Imdb is guilty of extortion.

I understand why actors wouldn't want their ages/DOB posted---the idiots in Hollywood don't have a clue, and if they are casting just by DOB---well, no wonder movies mostly stink amymore!
What I don't understand is why birthdates are even necessary. You wouldn't advertise this information unless it was needed for some tangible reason. A person can usually play a range of ages. It doesn't make sense to publish a specific birthdate.
I think that they shouldn't post photos because there just SO misleading and can make you look older/younger than you are. Totally uncalled for.

Many of us want our birthdays published on IMDB so our fans can send us delightful cards and our assistants can send them thank you notes and our fans can come to websites and mention us in "Who Have You Got Stuff Back From?" threads where they call us "down to earth."
But it's such a private and invasive thing to have disclosed!
I can't imagine the feeling of violation that must come with people actaully being able to see how old you really are.
Devestating. And thread worthy.

Maybe we can start a petition demanding IMDB delete date of birth information after an actor reaches "a certain age."
But what happens when you've had tons of plastic surgery on your face so that you think you look around 30, and then IMDB lists your age as 70, LOL!
That's when you cut them in half and count the rings, Jane.
You know, it's like their posting your address, and personal phone number! It's outrageous!
I just remembered that I know someone who actually had his birth certificate changed to make himself two years younger.
you swore you would never tell!
Haha! I told you if you were going through such an expense, take off five or ten. Not two!!!!!!
