This movie makes Alvin and the Chipmunks look like Gone with the Wind! I take it the kid is the Mickey character.

miscast nic cage much?
How does Nicolas Cage keep getting work?

It definitely looks awful, but a different kind of awful. At least Alvin and the Chipmunks doesn't make any attempt to be serious or dramatic. At least we can all put our minds to rest about Disney "remaking" the Fantasia sequence. Other than there is a "sorcerer" and an "apprentice", they share pretty much nothing in common. This is nothing more than another bad action movie that I probably won't see unless it is on cable and I have nothing else new to watch.
I see this as possibly being next summers LAND OF THE LOST. What's next? Night on Bald Mountain with Robert Downey Jr. playing a sleek dapper Chernabog?

All things considered, it was nowhere near as horrendous as I expected it to be. I mean, Nic Cage is a deal breaker for me. But you can see all they were trying to do was cash in and jump on that Harry Potter bandwagon a little bit.
It looks like Nicholas Cage's consolation prize for not being cast as Snape.
Night on Bald on Mountain with Robert Downey Jr. playing a sleek dapper Chernabog?
That sounds much better than this film.
WHY DO THE STUDIOS THINK WE WANT TO SEE NICOLAS CAGE IN MOVIES????????
The only thing I liked from the trailer was learning that Jay Baruchel is in this. I've liked him since Undeclared, but even that won't make me see this awful movie. Nic Cage is awful and miscast in just about everything, although I have to admit I loved him in Matchstick Men (and in Adaptation, though I liked the movie and Meryl a lot more than his role).
Great. Another movie set in/transplanted to NYC. *yawn*

Those NATIONAL TREASURE movies were huge hits, that's why he keeps getting work, despite the tons of bombs.
BRINGING OUT THE DEAD and LEAVING LAS VEGAS are the only performances he has ever given that were truly memorable or worthy of praise.
Also, I really liked him in SNAKE EYES, but I'm all about over-the-top Depalma thriller/dramas, so what do I know?
P
ETA: Just watched this trailer... LOL. NOT what I was expecting... why don't they just call it Disney's THE SORCERER'S DARK NIGHT and leave it at that since it's obviously aping Nolan.

I really like those performances mentioned P, but I like Nicolas Cage in Adaptation. as well as Matchstick Men.
He has made some terrible film choices. NY Magazine had a hilarious pathology of Cage's career. He comes a bit off, mostly with a chip on his shoulder from being a Coppola who had to drop his name while his cousins reaped in the rewards for being the children of FFC. I think once he won for Leaving Los Vegas he just really did not have real hunger and just started to feel like it was then he could cash in on his fame.

The sound you hear is Walt Disney turning over in his grave.
If Walt Disney is even buried six feet under.
Personally, I would have drawn the line on Radio Disney.

That looks craptastic!
As much as I despise Nick Cage I would actually sit through another National Treasure movie if one were made. Why waste their time on this crap?
Yawn. Movie looks terrible.
Not to judge movies on their titles but here are the upcoming attractions on all things Nic Cage:
Season of the Witch
Kick-Ass
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Drive Angry
The Hungry Rabbit Jumps
This is what happens when you're broke.
