"Harrison Ford told France's Le Figaro (via People) that "the story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I'll be very happy to put the costume on again."

Oh good, George Lucas is involved so we know it will be a real classy film! If they made Indy 4 ten years ago I would be really excited about this. This would be like Clint Eastwood announcing he was doing another Dirty Harry film.
Perhaps Indiana Jones can be on search for George Lucas' writing ability since he lost it many years ago

Please, no. Do not tarnish my memories of Indiana Jones by making another god awful sequel. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was just atrocious.

Evidently Spielberg, Lucas and Ford just don't have enough money yet.

in fairness, lucas could never write. search out a star wars geek who might have the original script for the first star wars. it's incomprehensible, in much the same way the prequels were (han solo, for instance, was originally to be a giant hideous alien, i believe). it was heavily editted, i believe, to be presentable. when the original franchise became a huge hit, lucas became critic-proof, and stopped listening to people.

Harrison Ford supposedly threatened to tie Lucas to a pole and make him recite his own dialogue.

"Let it DIE please!"
Not as long as there's a single person willing to put up money to make the film, or as long as there's a single pathetic fanboy drooling over yet another entry in this indefensibly prolonged franchise.
Indiana Jones is the Sarah Palin of movie franchises -- it won't just shut up and go away, ever.

And Palin often sounds as if George Lucas had provided her lines (and then dropped her script into a blender.)
If they have a great story and idea I say go for it.I read Frank Darabont's script, which Lucas rejected and it was very good. Indy had no son in his version and it was not so campy as the Crystal Skull film was.If they approached it without it being an FX film, kept it simple, and kept the budget down I think they could make a very good film. One of the things I liked about Indy 4 was that Spielberg shot it on film and not DV.I bet he and George had a huge argument over that.It was a beautiful film to look at and it makes you appreciate the film look in this day and age of digital video.Indy 4 had it's moments and I enjoyed it more than Temple of Doom.I would just like to see a simple story, almost like a western.Clint Eastwood was at the right age when he did UNFORGIVEN and Indy 5 could be good. However,I would keep George as far away to the story as possible. I agree, he is NO writer.Let him produce the film but give him limited creative input.I may be one of the few who actually enjoyed the Indiana Jones TV Series and would love to see them take that route rather than have action scene after action scene and explosion.

I adore Harrison Ford and I adore Indiana Jones, but Indy 4 was an abomination. If it is more of the same, I hope Indy 5 never makes it off the storyboards.
Indiana Jones in the Valley of Walkers & Corrective Shoes
Takes place in Boca. This is getting a little long in the tooth. What next Rocky 12 where he fights creaking joints?
Its the only film Harrison can make that will gross over 100 million. Sad,but Harrison Ford is no longer the king of all action films like he was in the 80's and 90's.He really does not need to work anymore.Marry Calista, help raise her kids, and enjoy retirement. Lucas can always do a new Star Wars film and Spielberg has his next 40 films already lined up.(up next is HARVEY!)
I say get a good writer to take over and write a decent story without a lot of action.
Maybe they should just call it a day and leave it at #4

They all know they dropped the ball on the fourth film so I have a lot more faith they're going to make a kick ass fifth, should they choose to. I'm actually glad to hear about this and like everyone else, will be there opening day.
If Shia's character is off partying with friends while the adults go off on their adventure,I say great! I like Shia, but not as Indy's son.Would love for Sallah to return though.I wish they would patch things up with Frank Darabont and have him do the script.I'll reserve judgment but I am a huge Indiana Jones fan.Love the movies and even the TV series.
I'd give anything or Kate Capshaw to be in this one. *sigh*

I concur with the idea of leaving Shia LeBoeuf at home. Can't stand him. Let Indy be Indy.
This should've died when it was still good...after the first one.
How about a re-boot with Nathan Fillion as Indy?

Last Crusade was/is my favorite, and probably impossible to top.
And NO ONE other than Ford is Indy. After all, he created the character, and when he was good, he was very, very good, and when he was bad, ...oh, well.
Carrie Fisher used to get in fights with George Lucas on the set of Star Wars regarding his dialogue. He's great at concepts. Not so good at actually writing.
btw...I just saw a trailer for Morning Glory starring Ford and Diane Keaton. IMO it looks like a really good film and they seem to have great chemistry. In the short trailer anyway
wait, wasn't gran torino dirty harry 7?
I'm a huge Indiana fan. The movies of my childhood. However, IMHO, if the pattern continues, this "should" be a good one!
Raiders of the Lost Ark: GREAT Flick
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: UGH. Watched it once.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Loved most of it.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Um, really?
I'd be willing to throw my 10 bucks at it and give it the benefit of the doubt! But how old will Harrison Ford BE....70?? Will this one take place in a nursing home?

It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.
