I can not stand that pretentious man who hosts that thing. What IS that buggerer's name?????? Don't tell me. I'll just have a nightmare. That Black Raven Roux Rinse on his hair just scares the hell out of me.

Yes, let's give an artist credit for work they never did and success they never had. That's perfectly logical.

The host's name is James Lipton, and he's best taken as an SNL sketch.

yeah, every role that they talk about he starts it off with something generic like "one of the best roles ever to be captured on film"

Oh god, the SNL skit is the funniest thing. I have the best of will ferrel DVD, and during that skit he says something to the extent of "you make Ghandi look like a child pornographer." I nearly died laughing.

I love The Simpsons, but when he did a show about them, I thought "ratings grab". He also did a show about "Everybody Loves Raymond" which is an insult to Doris Roberts because she deserves her own show.

Everybody Loves Raymond? AKA The most overrated show on the planet? Oh dear.

yeah, for some reason, I always thought of Inside the Actor's Studio as a prestigious interview session with high-class actors and actresses. But that was before I found out they did a show on The Simposons.

Hey! The Simpsons is a classic in contemporary pop culture!...so there!

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

I actually don't watch it myself all that much, but I think in the debate over who would be more relevant, significant, what have you, between the cast of The Simpsons and J-Lo, I'd give the edge to The Simpsons any day of the week!

The Simpsons wins that contest easily. Lopez could give people lessons in self-promotion, but I lost respect for her acting years ago.

It used to be just a class at a college, not necessarily a TV show. And a lot of people refuse to go on the show (because they don't have 4-5 hours on a Monday night) or their publicist says no, etc...
The funny/sad thing, is I've never heard of anyone who actually studied at the New School making it big. I've never heard one guest go "when I was in this class", etc...
The show has taken on a life of it's own and it's all about who they book.

If you really want to help the American theater, don't be an actress, dahling. Be an audience..... Don't be taken in by the guff that critics are killing the theater. Commonly they sin on the side of enthusiasm. Too often they give their blessing to trash... Tallulah Bankhead

Actually bunchamuncha, The New School has recently separated itself from The Actor's Studio. So at the moment, James Lipton is without a home. We'll see whether anyone picks him up or if the show goes down the drain.

Jay Leno, J Lo, George Carlin, Bill Joel. Why why why?

Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio turned the invitation down, because they feel their body of work isn't extensive enough to warrant such an interview. Good for them.

They need to rerun the Sondheim one, and the Bernadette Peters one as well.

Because when I think acting, I automatically think "Sondheim."

Now, I adore the man's work, probably to an unhealthy extent, but isn't he a bit of an oddball guest to have on the show?

My favorite Will Ferrell-as-Lipton quote is (paraphrasing), "There are no words to describe your performance in this movie, so I am going to make one up...right...now.

'Trum-scra-lescent'."

When you see Lipton hyperventilate over Carol Burnett, you know he's going to have a heart attack over Paris Hilton.

Waaaait- Madonna a "no-talent hack"??? Are you serious??

Regardless of what you think of her music, she is infinitely talented. Obviously you haven't seen any of her live shows, because the woman puts on some of the most spectacular, theatrical concerts I have ever seen.

Not to mention the large number of great songs she has written or co-written- Like a Prayer, Cherish, Into the Groove, etc.

I used to be a HUGE fan of this show until Jennifer Lopez..I honestly can't stand her at all. I'm not saying she's not talented I just don't understand the hype and attraction. Bummer I was really obsessed with this...

Yeah, I stopped watching when the likes of Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez came on to do the show.

But the one recent one I wanted to see was with Jodie Foster. I still have yet to catch a rerun.

And Barbra's was by far the best one I've ever seen. I thought it was really interesting.

Isn't it Mario Cantone who has the great line about the "stench of failed actor" that Lipton "reeks of"?
