HEDWIG: "The road is my home. In reflecting upon the people whom I have come upon in my travels, I cannot help but think of the people who have come upon me."
Oy. I cannot read this article from work...but I can guess.
This is why theocracies should not exist. OR despotisms. Or whatever. Of course, we are tumbling headlong into a country with the same kind of restrictions so I guess I hardly find it surprising.
Disgusted: Yes. Shocked: No. I was speaking to a closeted gay friend from Jordan a while back and he informed me that in the middle east, Homosexuality is considered one of the highest offences. If your family finds out before it makes it to the police, its their right to kill the person to restore family honour. *shakes head sadly*
Totale finsternis, ein meer von gefuehl und kein land
It is such a sad world--especially considering in many parts of the arab world, homosexuality is quite rampant amongst unmarried men who can find no sexual outlet with women because of the restrictions Islam places on the position of women.
Of course, in this country, people are killed every day for the same "crime."
Even more horrifying than people getting executed for their sexual orientation is that these two were only teenagers. Do the officials have no shame that they are murdering children?

jesus, do you guys really take everything you read so literally? Are you so naive to think that just because our GOVERNMENT isn't executing homosexuals, they are not killing them? How about the Regan response to the AIDS crisis? How about weakening our armed forces by booting gay soldiers or translators?
And I'm not sure what NAMBLA has to do with this....
When Mom says "Scrubbing this kitchen floor every time you kids track mud in here is KILLING ME!" I take it with a grain of salt.
When you say, in reference to two kids getting hung: "Of course, in this country, people are killed every day for the same "crime." " it doesn't really seem like a wild exaggeration. Until you explain you are REALLY talking about Reagan's pathetic AIDS policy 25 years ago and the current ridiculous "Don't Ask Don't Tell" crap-- THEN I realize I shouldn't take what you write "So Literally," cause, you know, when you say "Killed every Day" you don't mean 'killed' or 'every day' to be taken literally. Obviously.
Glad we cleared that up. So LilDogs "I appreciate your insight into this complicated issue!"
But, don't take that LITERALLY! You know what I REALLY mean, right?
We are posting to a thread where two young men who have engaged in gay sex and taken out and executed because of the act.
That is what is being discussed. The US government, with all its faults with gay rights, failure to act during the AIDS crisis, etc., hasn't done this.
The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.
