Because I don't think she's smarter than a fifth grader. (sorry, had to say that)

I like the Times columnist who said about her: "She's politics' Zsa Zsa Gabor. She did something interesting once, but no one really remembers what and now she's famous for being famous."
As much as I can't stand Palin, and as wrong as I think she is in every single thing she says, she does have the right to express her opinion. Criticizing the president and the government is as American as Patrick Henry - so unfortunately I find this kind of misguided.
Still, if she becomes president, Canada will have a couple of new citizens in me and my wife.

The Times' columnist also said that the left needs to stop obsessing with her and I agree. She and her minions thrive on criticism. There is nothing she loves more than to play a victim card. And, realistically, there is nothing she can do or say to lose her followers' support. They are completely brainwashed.
I disagree. I think she should be on the air 24x7, and every GOP politician should have to express his or her support of her as a presidential candidate. Let's make it a litmus test for the GOP. You're either with her or against her. If you're against her, good luck in the GOP primary. If you're with her, good luck in the general election. Without her, the GOP wins Nevada, Colorado, and Delaware, and gains control of the Senate. I want her involved in every single race.
That said, she is not a traitor. She embodies everything that's wrong with this country, and I strongly disagree with her on just about everything, but she's not a traitor. She puts her financial interest above all, before her family and her country, but she's not a traitor. She puts ideology before people, but she's not a traitor. She promotes ignorance and intolerance, but she's not a traitor.
Although, you know, if she actually held a high office, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find her doing something traitorous not too long into her reign - uh - presidency.
Madbrian, that's my attitude exactly. She's batsh*t crazy, but I absolutely want her as the GOP nom. PALIN in 2012!!!
Very well said madbrian; but IMHO she is also the epitome of the word bimbo.
At this point I'd be so afraid that the idiots that kept her daughter on DWTS are in big enough numbers that she could actually win.

I don't even think she's smart enough to be a waiter.
During my trip to Tennessee last week my mom said, "I am thinking about voting for Sarah Palin if she runs. I think she's smart." My wife had to calm me down. THIS is what's wrong. People see her as their next door neighbor. They pay no attention to what the woman actually says, which is a whole bunch of nothing. When I said, "SMART?!!!" and started rattling off batsh*t things the woman has said, my mom said, "I don't want to talk politics with you."
Now, you have to understand that my mother is mad as hell that I am living in Sweden. When she was considering her Tennessee gubernatorial vote, she didn't like the republican, but didn't like the democrat either. I told her that the republican said that he would only support legislation that promoted, "traditional marriage," she said, "Well, I didn't really pay much attention to that." REALLY?!! My wife and I CAN'T come to the US because of politics. She wants us to move back to the states, but my wife can't get a visa, she can't be on my insurance and hell, she can't even BE my wife in Tennessee. A lot of people who support these people, like Sarah Palin, don't even think about the things that do matter to their lives. They vote for the candidates who they think they are supposed to vote for. "Sarah is just like me!" Yeah, her "best friend" is gay, yet she'd vote against her ever having equal rights. Bah.
I worry about the fact that while the people who most of us associate with on a daily basis have enough brains to realize how insane that woman is, there are enough people in this country who somehow manage to get brainwashed by the GOP every election that I fear she COULD win. I mean, the Repubs took over Congress last election -- the majority of people who voted for them voted against their own best interests -- what's to make us think that won't happen again?

Sarah Palin is a lot of things, but stupid she is not. I don't think she'll actually run for president. She'll flirt with the idea and drive the GOP establishment crazy, but will back off at the last minute. She is an opportunist who is in it for the money and power, but she is not looking to do any hard work of actually governing.
Agreed, Siny. I don't think she REALLY has a snowball's chance in hell of getting the nomination. If she were to get it, the fact that she has the tiniest chance of being elected scares me.
"At this point I'd be so afraid that the idiots that kept her daughter on DWTS are in big enough numbers that she could actually win."
You mean, the same people who voted for Bush?
I'm VERY worried.
No one knows what the political landscape will look like in 2012, but states like Nevada, Colorado, Delaware, and even Alaska rejected her minions this year, so it's difficult to see how she could win nationally.
She's smart enough to become a celebrity, be a vice presidential candidate and make lots of money. But Snooki is catching up to her pretty quickly.

As concerns the next election, I hope she's still enough of a force - in whatever way - to cause hell and havoc to the overall Republican campaign.

If she doesn't run she loses her status as the figurehead of the Republican party and slowly becomes that crazy lady who never shuts up. Her candidacy would throw the choice into sharp relief- her defeat might be the stake in the heart of the tea party.
It's only a matter of time before we see Sarah doing a Playboy spread.
*shudders*
"That Crazy Lady Who Never Shuts Up"
That oughta be the title of her next book.
Dan,
YOU JUST SHUT YOUR FILTHY MOUTH RIGHT NOW!!!!
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET **THAT** IMAGE OUT OF MY HEAD?!
It really isn't Dan's fault you have Eskimo bush on the brain.
