Fruit does NOT belong in cake. Ever. My grandmother loved cake with the layers of fruit in between, and when she passed away, we thought we might finally have some normal cake at family gatherings. It turns out my grandfather wanted to keep the tradition alive, though, so we still have to suffer through it.
