Yes - it refers to the decaying of perfect teeth.

Okay, Harris, he's all yours.
It was really entertaining! I hope to catch a production of it sometime, as well as putting Hello Dolly on the netflix list.
The HELLO, DOLLY! film bears about as much resemblance to THE MATCHMAKER as Carol Channing does to Barbra Streisand. An entertaining film in its own way (Dollypop is gonna kill me for that statement) but not a patch on the original - musical or non.
If you wanna go way back, try Johann Nestroy's EINEN JUX WILL ER SICH MACHEN, which is what the play is based upon. I suggest the translated edition.
I meant matchmaker not hello dolly, oops!
I'm really digging Ragtime. I hope to finish it later and then move on to the plays of Tennessee Williams.
Nestroy's EINEN JUX WILL ER SICH MACHEN was adapted from John Oxenford's 1835 A DAY WELL SPENT. Which was also the basis for Tom Stoppard's 1991 comedy ON THE RAZZLE.
Whatever!
Tink, I'm shocked (but not surprised) you can even read -- and chapter books at that.
And Stagey wonders why he is constantly being shoved into death pits?

Hey Girly!
Hey, DG! How was Monterey?
Oh, is that what he's doing? I thought he was just being an ass. My bad.

Monterey was spectacular! Absolutely perfect weather the entire time, phenomenal meals, and the auto show itself was jaw-dropping - and I'm not even the one into cars!
Plus, I got to finally fulfill a dream of 25 years and go to the Monterey Aquarium, which was everything I could have hoped for and more (notice the new Av )
All-in-all, one of the best getaways we've ever had.
Well, that too, Shames.
Hi D2! How goes it?
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.

kids - remember, never take anything Stagey says seriously. He just forgets that sarcasm and jokes do not translate well over the internet.
DG - that sounds like a lovely time.
Thanks you, Tinkela. I sure missed you while you were gone. Everyone ganged up on me (see above), especially two who shall remain nameless like D2 and tazber.
I'm good, Girly. Swimming in media kits and ad rates and all that crap right now. I shouldn't even be here, but all those numbers just get to be meaningless after a while.
Don't forget to mention Harris in your bid for sympathy, Stagey.
In that case, I apologize, SM2. I get a little defensive when I think someone is going after the Ying to my Yang.
And, I don't know why that sounds dirty.
There is THAT.
