Posted: 6/29/07 at 5:10pmI have to admit that I'm not a raving LuPone fan, (I could not bring myself to see her in SWEENEY - I waited to see it with Judy Kaye) but the thought of her as Rose in GYPSY is just too fabulous to resist. If there ever appeared to be the perfect match of performer and role, this one is it. And it is a pity that she didn't get to do SUNSET BOULEVARD in New York. It was, IMHO, one of the most touching, nuaunced and controlled performances I've ever seen - she was heartbreakingly beautiful in that show.
