Well I liked it.
ww11, who was that guy on your "original Nine" thread? Is he always that obnoxious?
I LOVE the main board. It's hilarious.
Which one?
Hey jag!
The obnoxious one, apparently.
I can't pronounce his name, much less spell it. the one with all the snarlky comments.
Hi, there!
SM2, you're so insightful.
Ah. I'm not really familiar with him, so...
I'm more disappointed no one else seems to have seen NINE.
I love NINE. I WISH I had seen it. One day I WILL play Claudia.
What's everyone been up to? I haven't been here in a while!
I've seen a bootleg video of it. It was incredible even in that poor quality. Akers did indeed steal the show. Any other year and the Tony would have been hers. But against J Holiday she never stood a chance.
Opus-
I just freaking love Anita Morris.
That costume is stunning!
She was amazing. That was a showstopper. So was Be On Your Own.
Literally stopped the show. At least it seemed like it on the video.
I know someone who has a copy, I'll tell him to PM you if you want.
That would be great!
And I love Akers on the recording. She's brilliant. Though I can't begrudge JHol for winning the Tony that year.
How is everyone tonight? I've been at urgent care all afternoon with my dad. The cat bit him last night and there was redness starting to travel up his arm. Oy. Damn cat.
well how is he? And what's the deal with the cat? Did it have something?
Hey Actr! Hope your dad feels better.
ouch! that sounds painful actr. did the cat just go nuts or what?
i'll be very happy on thursday. until then, well, don't ask. I don't want to keep bitching about this f*cking toothache. It's now spread into my ear, the back of my head, and down into my neck, not to mention that i'm getting sharp pains throughout my mouth. I know it HAS to be infected at this point. I'll just be glad when it's over
toothaches are the worst! Oh god, the pain.
Oh, the pain, the pain, the pain.
WWII, I saw the original production of NINE - it was a gorgeous production. Karen Akers did indeed deserve a Tony; she was heartbreaking as Luisa. I became an instant, lifelong fan of hers from that night. Anita Morris also deserved an award. Liliane Montevecchi - not so much.
I remember once, several years after the original run ended, I was in Washington, DC - I had my walkman on and was listening to NINE - MY HUSBAND MAKES MOVIES to be exact. I looked up, and standing right in front of me was Karen Akers. I took off my earphones and let her listen to what I was listening to. She smiled at me, we exchanged a few words and went on our business. But it was a lovely moment.
how cool D2! That would be amazing
polly, hope everything feels better for you as well. I hate toothaches.
Deet, that's and incredible story! Do you think Montevecchi's Tony win could have been because her number was a little more flashy (and I do love listening to her number on the CD).
I think it was because no one could understand a word she said, so she had to be given an award. Tony logic.
Haha, of course! Same with Germans at Deh Shpa! I love that track, but I can't understand a word she says.
Hey there, all you vajayjayheads! :)
thanks ww11. it'll be better thursday. I'm having oral surgery to get that tooth and another removed on wednesday.
They're gonna knock me out cause, well i'm a fraidy cat when it comes to dental work. the first wisdom tooth i had removed had grown in sideways. It was growing into my jawbone and moving my molars around. They had to take out a small piece of my bone. and I was awake at the time. they had numbed me but i could still feel the vibrations and pressure and all that. so ever since, i am freaked out.
Now, i'm freaked out because i have never been under general anesthesia before (well not since i was 1 anyway)
