it ate another
in case it decides to never let it surface here's what i said:
well he's been here about a month. and i don't know how long they will be here. until he gets a job i'd guess. he's getting unemployment so he's been helping out with groceries. i really don't care how long they need to stay. they are our friends.
Polly, we are in a similar situation with a friend who has been staying with us, and you have just put everything into perspective for me. I am humbled, and grateful.
Good for you polly! That's incredibly generous of you. They're lucky to have you as a friend.
i'll help anyone ya know? it's just how i am. we have had so many people stay with us through the years, relatives & friends alike. we had one guy stay with us for two years
Okay - two years is maybe a bit too much perspective.
well yeah maybe. but he'd had his identity stolen and his bank account wiped out and frankly, i don't even LIKE that guy. he's my hubby's friend. let's put it a different way. if i'd go that far for someone i don't like a whole lot, can you imagine what i'd do for someone i DO like?
Ari and I let one of Marianne's friends stay here for awhile once. She was nice, but I won't lie, it was an inconvenience.
However, i'd do it again if anybody I knew needed a place to stay. I can't imagine having no place to go. How horrible. I really feel bad for the homeless.
Y'all are just s'sweet!
You've inspired me Polly.
Next time I meet somebody who needs a helping hand, I plan on stepping up and doing something about it.
I'll send them straight to your house.
Amen, honey.
Let us all remember the wise words of our brave forefather, Mr. Franklin:
"Houseguests, like fish, begin to smell after three days."
Awww, my mom actually takes the same stand on helping people. Which REALLY worries me because she works at a prison. It's only a matter of time before she brings one home.
Scary thought, Soapy.
When I was in high school, my best friend Jessica and I used to be pen pals with a bunch of prisoners...we told them we were way older , and used to send the naughtiest things! One guy actually got out, and tried to come find Jessica so he could marry her.
So, Soapy...be afraid. Be vurrrah afeerd!
Jaily, that's just creepy.
well, yes. At the time, that was the whole essence of the fun of the matter :)
I would like to think that my mother would put the safety of her children above her urge to help people. But, she hardly actually works WITH the prisoners now. (Unless they need phsyc meds or a phsyc consultation.)
Jaily, I am. I move into my dorm room on the 20th, of August. So I'm won't have to be afraid for long.
Jaily, did your prisoner ever try to find you?
well, i wouldn't go that far. there's no way i'd let someone with a criminal record near my kids. unless it's like martha. i might send her my kids as punishment lol

Haha! My mom used to tell my sister that she would take her to jail if she was bad. Once, the day before mine and my sister's birthday, she put my sister in the car and drove around the block, pretending to drive her to jail when she took a pack of gum from the store.
i made my kid go back, and apologize to the store manager and pay for it. I then took the money out of his allowance since i had to pay for the gum. and i didn't even let him have the gum

Oh, well, that too. But the jail thing was pretty funny...now. I was in hysterics at the time. I thought my sister would be going to jail on our birthday.
WAIT! You have a twin sister?
