I know this is off-topic, but in honour of the Sweeney Todd month, I watched the dvd with Angela, and the Joanna and Anthony are just HORRIBLE.

I agree Roz. The concert dvd with Hearn and Lupone had a WAY better Anthony and Johanna. Side note . . . I have NEVER liked those two characters anyway. Blah!

He is Chris Groendaal. I remember now. Those characters both Anthony & Johanna are very dull characters to the story.

I don't think they are. I think there's just a tendency for people to give them ingenue washes. Johanna is a very interesting character; think of what she has been through. And her song has a lot of subtlety and depth that is never DONE because singers make it all about the high notes.
And Anthony is a kind, genuine, young man in love. I like him.
They're easy to do bad because the young lovers SEEM the most boring.

To me, they both (more Johanna) slows the story down. They are like after thoughts.

With all the other action that is going on, the sub-plot of Anthony & Johanna does get overshadowed.
Me not being a big singer that song would be impossible and way out of my range. From what I remember the lady who sang it on the DVD did a great job with it, while I wasn't very pleased with the version in the movie.

To me, they're devices to get to the end of the story. Joanna doesn't even know what she wants.
