It's ten to 3 and I haven't even bothered getting dressed.
Hey ravishing Rav! How are ya?
Glad to see you're in a good mood, Jaily. How did the concert go?
The concert was fantastic...except for the small matter of the first violin section's utter inability to utilize staccato bowings at pianissimo in fast running passages. They fairly destroyed parts of the Rossini overture, but I think overall, it was great. Our Mozart Impresario was an ENORMOUS success...and our soprano hit the most amazing high F I've heard in a very, very long time.

Which Rossini Overture? William Tell?
Hey linbin!
This was in NY, right?
I ask because I had a concert yesterday where we did a Rossini overture (Theiving Magpie) and involved opera singers, but it was in PA.

Linbin? There's a new one.
Hey chico
No, we played the overture to "La Cenerentola".

Hangover abaited?
yes, I was totally fine by the concert, actually. I just drank a ton of water, ate a sandwich, and I was peachy!

Sounds good. At work?
Hiya Linnie.
Oh good, then it wasn't the same concert and I can freely complain about ours. I know this is the wrong website to say this, but I really hate working with singers - especially opera singers. I love to listen to opera, but playing it with those divas is a b!tch.
At least I have an all-Tchaikovsky concert to look forward to next season.

I like Opera Singers, but I couldn't eat a whole one.

Ah - my mom's just issued some form of ultimatum regarding my use of computers, in a screamed message through the wall to her room, so I might not be around for a while.
Bye.
Poor linnie
Our singers were actually fantastic to work with, thankfully...they were sweet as pie, and my GOD, were they talented. (Mozart is NOT easy for a soprano, and these ladies NAILED it.)
But yes, generally, singers are rather a nightmare to deal with.
The highlight for me was when one singer miscounted and shot the conductor a dirty look for not anticipating his mistake. Yeah, there are 70 of us in one place in the music and you're in another - who do you think messed up?
You know how they do..."Moi? A mistake? No, no, you silly man!"
Diva snatchbags, they are!
Nice to see others work on a Monday. *hugs my bitch*
Hey there, Fellow Dramatic-Black-and-White-Avatarian!
You need to remind me again what to do when I celebrate too much...is it a bad thing if you do shots of Patron and the whole bottle is gone?
Quick update: Mother D2 is slowly getting better. I just got off the phone with the Doctor, and they are now ruling out a stroke (she may have had a minor stroke recently that went undetected but there are no signs of having had a major stroke). All signs are now pointing to congestive heart failure. She is being treated for that and she is responding, and is getting more lucid than she has been.
Back to the fun stuff.
D2..glad to hear that your Mom is doing better. Seemed that my Mom was having what the doctors called mini strokes for years, but being they were so minor no one knew. I'm glad they found this out early for your Mom and hopefully no serious damage was done. All the best to D2's mom.
