I know. Totally shoulda done it.
They could do the revival of THE RINK!
I'm saving that production for Monk and Ziemba to do.
Think it would work?
My bedroom's a mess.
Get Ivan to clean it. That's what husbands are for.
Yes, Monk and Ziemba would work for THE RINK, although Ziemba IS getting up in years for Angel. Angel is supposed to "nearly 30 now," remember. And Ziemba hasn't been nearly 30 since, well.. uh oh, I better shut up now.
*ducks and runs*
Ivan should be on his way home from the airport.
Oh. GET MOVING, ABS. Clean that room!
How close was Liza to 30, bitch?
8 years. She was 37 when it opened, turned 38 during her run. I know this. I'm frightened.
Well, Karen is...
oh shut up!!
I don't know what THE RINK, or who Karen Ziemba (besides here) are, so I feel left out
You make baby Jesus weep.
*GASP!*
THE RINK is a Kander & Ebb show, with a book by Terrance McNally, and the original production starred Chita Rivera and Liza Minnelli as an estranged mother and daughter fighting over the family owned roller rink. Chita won her first Tony for her role, and Liza was quite famously strung out for most of the performances she showed up for. Stockard Channing eventually replaced Minnelli, but the show closed a few weeks later after a 6 month run. The score is a knockout.
Rath, you wanna take Karen Ziemba?
La Ziemba.
I'll keep a look out for the recording.
There is a recording, right?
Go to curtainsthemusical.com, you can watch some of the numbers from the show. I've just discovered this and can't watch videos on this computer, so not sure if they're full numbers or not.
I believe the OBCR drops early June.
Yes, there are several recordings of THE RINK - the original Broadway production, and a rare pressing of the original London production which was an even bigger flop than New York. It ran about a month there in 1988. I actually saw that production on my first trip to London - it was the very first show I saw in the West End. It was very good, it just didn't click over there and hadn't been a big enough hit in New York to make the American tourists flock to it. I forget who was in it over there, but they were a terrific couple of broads.
THE RINK is not available anymore, unless you find it used or at a specialty store carrying out of print recordings. It's a wonderful score.
A play version of DEATHTRAP? To quote LES MIS: "Sweet Jesus hear my prayer!"
"The hell with getting a gimmick, you gotta get a NAME!"
Or in this case D2, they got a MAME!
**rimshot**
I just saw that Deathtrap thread. PJ seems to think Amanda is a sock-puppet. I think he's right.
And can Husk-Charmer get his tongue any farther up Margo's ass?
MMM... all that chocolate!
Did someone hear something?
Yesterday, I tried to reply, and it took me to the Broadway board.
