Hey Stagey.

Lupone's 'shutup its been 29 years!' or whatever. Its like congratulations but the whole shows not about you. It was disrespectful to the other categories not yet announced, as she ate up time designated for other people.


I though ITH had a classy speech. The producer said a short bit, and everyone yelled, "we love broadway!" simple, and could have been longer and more indulgent, but opted for class.

Taz, No bowl, but I AM nursing some Jack Daniels.

And no...I only just made it home to Toronto after the worst night of my life. I am gonna try and do it again tomorrow though I think, because I am crazy.

They thought that because I had yet to get my return bus ticket home and that I had my portfolio on me that I was running away to try and live and work in New York. And can I just say how ashamed I would be as an American to have representatives of my country treating people the way they do at the border when they are clearly quite harmless. Especially in contrast to how nice the Canadians were to me (the immigration people on this side were not only nice, but called hotels in the area to try and find me a place to stay for the night for cheap).

Poor Akiva! That's the most ridiculous personal account of American border stupidity I've ever heard. Here's hoping things go better tonight, provided you try again. I'd hate for you to miss your trip because of some border asshats.

And, Deet, from my view on my cozy couch in Chicago, it seemed as if Patti got quite the ovation after her performance. I can only call them as I see them. And, for what it's worth, I probably would have been one of the standing schmucks if I were lucky enough to have been there in person. As a wannabe belter, I enjoy my divas.

Sorry, Mauri - but it really was an interesting perspective last night - the things you DON'T see on the telecast that you do see in the house. I didn't mean to pick on you, but there have been so many posts about this ovation and that ovation that just weren't true, I had to say something and it's (slightly) safer to post it here than on that rabid main board.

Oh man,

I am so tired and drained, emotionally and physically, from the last 24 hours. I am hoping to bounce back because I spent all day tracking down documents and letters of reference that should get me into the States tomorrow in time to see In The Heights with Roz and the crew. Keep your fingers crossed that they aren't huge a**holes to me like they were yesterday, and that they can see that I clearly just a tourist in town for a few days trying to support the New York theatre economy and enjoy some shows with his best friends in the world. I'd rather not get treated like a criminal.

Return ticket, along with confirmation of future employment in Canada, residence, financial aid from my parents, my itinerary in New York, etc. I have over 8 letters and things like paycheque stubs, bank statements, adressed mail, etc.

If I get turned away I won't even know what to say. But at the same time I am so nervous, because this trip means everything to me, and I will have wasted SOOO much money if this doesn't happen.
