Is This Site Pissing Off Anyone Else?

It ONLY happens when I'm on this site that my computer slows up considerably and I have to restart every 20 minutes or so because nothing will load. Plus half the time I can't send PM's to anyone. I click and click on the button but nothing comes up. Also, each time I come here I am infected with an average of 75 spywares that I have to remove a few times a day.
Is this happening with anyone else?

it looks like you and mom have the same problem...

I get a slow down while typing and strange cursor placement. but nothing more serious....

I havent had any trouble.....slows down sometimes...but not too bad

Is this because of all the ads that were placed all around this place? Because I never had this problem before that.

I just ran adaware again and had 256 new things installed in the last 20 minutes since I ran it last.

Matt,

While I sympathize (and certainly agree with your predicerament), try and look at the situation from Rob's point of view.

He has to pay the bills somehow--and the only way he can get money is through advertisers.

He certainly isn't getting any money from US.

Funny, but I'm actually not downloading any porn!

But I'll run adaware, and remove everything and than ONLY go to this site and after a few minutes, run adaware again and my computer is infected with hundreds of them.

Matt,

Have you tried Spybot--"freeware" Anti-Spyware like Adaware, but MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE.

When your Internet Browser attempts to load Spyware, Spybot informs you and gives you the option not to download it.

Spybot didn't really help me. I got to the point where I couldn't even use IE anymore.

That's because you need to trash "sucky" IE and download Mozilla Firefox--the "Cadillac" of Internet Browsers.

I've had very few problems with this site epcifically, but a lot of the problems I have had here and at other sites are the fault of Windows/IE, not the site itself. Purge your Temp Files and Cookies often. It speeds things up and is a good privacy measure too. If you still have trouble, a good defrag is never a bad idea.

This site moves slowly for me, too. (I've been told it's because I'm still using dial-up. Maybe.)

Sometimes, when I'm on a thread and I try to go to subsequent pages, it stalls, and just kicks me off the site. Also, I've been writing a post and had it throw me off-line, which is maddening because I lose my long-winded rambling, which I'm always too much in love with. Lately, it's very erratic keeping my log-in.

It has gotten MUCH worse since the site-police have insatlled all these new advertising items like the new ads that show-up on the 'private message sent' screen.

Rodney: That has nothing to do with it. The time that it takes the ad image to serve up on the sent PMs (From another image server, not BWW.com) affects nothing. You can click "Close Window" before the image even pops up. The burden of processing is not on BWW servers in the case of the ads.

Matt_G: As for the spyware, I would be willing to guarantee that you have a trojan horse on your compy that is spewing out the items in question. Adaware may not be picking it up because of out of date virus definitions, etc.

Other than the authentication cookie BWW.com shouldn't be sending anything to your computer. Try turning up your internet security to the higest level. Then it should inform you when cookies, etc. are being sent to your machine.

Hmmmn... The new banners around do help to cover the costs of the site, yes, but none of them should be installing any spyware or pop-ups. I've checked with the advertising service who's confirmed this as well that nothing we have enabled appears to allow for those.

For web browsing in general, this site and elsewhere, if you're on a PC, I'd highly recommend using Firefox, http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ which is

a) free
b) fast
c) much less prone to security and other problems than IE
d) blocks pop-ups

hmm you might have some process on your computer causing it to do this.. you can click ctrl alt delete and then click processes and if anything doesn't say SYSTEM next to it or doesn't look like a program you have running.. delete it..
