I've been watching Queer As Folk on Logo, and I just have to say that Hal Sparks is a cutie! He's not what one might consider as classically gorgeous, but he has a sweet, boy-next-door quality which I love. Anyone else feel the same?

He's amazing. I love when he does the I Love the 70's/80's/90's shows.
I liked him until Celebrity Duets. gah.
Yeah, I've had a crush on him for a while. My mom does too, actually.
He's cute, but he is also homophobic, self-aggrandizing, and a complete jerk.
Nice butt, though.

He is homophobic but yet he is Queer As Folk?
yes. It was a paid gig, so he took it. The entire run of the show, he bitched and complained about how gross it was to play a gay guy and how much he hated the sex scenes and every three seconds it was "I'm straight" this and "Wow, it's really hard to be a STRAIGHT guy playing a part like this" that and he was just generally a d*ck about the whole thing.
Do some web searches on him...you dig up some interesting things that have been said.
He's also apparently just a complete arse in person.
With those comments, he probably really isn't straight at all.
You're catching on, pumpkin.
You may be ready for Datalounge soon!
Yes, that is the general speculation...The Lady Doth Protesteth Too Much and all that.
Ha, I'm high as a kite on cough medication. So I'm a little slow!

I've slept with him but I'm straight, too.
His girlfriend is COVERED in tattoos.
No, I'm not in love with Hal Sparks. I used to like him on TALK SOUP; but after he left that, I never saw him again.
I love Hal! My little spark plug, I call him.
I hope he doesn't consider himself in the same league as Dennis DeYoung and Dee Snider.

I worked with him at the Hollywood Bowl, and he was a total sweetie the entire time. (Granted, it was only for a week...maybe his "jerkiness" would have come out over a longer rehearsal period.) He was one of the only "celebrities" who hung out with everyone, actually, and didn't separate himself from those of us in the ensemble. I never caught a whiff of homophobia, and we had many gay cast members, and their partners came to dress rehearsal and the cast party, etc., and there was plenty of PDA.
His girlfriend is indeed covered in tattoos, and has those huge holes in her ears - you know, the ones that are held open by some sort of o-rings? But she was very sweet, as well.
I did not like Celebrity Duets at all. I couldn't really watch it. But when I managed to, I thought he sounded a bit screamy. Like he was hurting his voice.
I have been involved in two charity projects with Hal. He is very earthy and down to earth, and NOT HOMOPHOBIC at all.
Well I'm glad some of you have had good experiences with him, but the vast majority of what I have read about him very much conflicts with that impression; and I have read interviews he has done (such as the Advocate and EW) where he could NOT shut up about being a straight guy playing gay, and how uncomfortable it was.
You certainly never heard any of that from Gale Harold!
Here's some of what others have to say about La Sparky:
Big Jerk, Thy Name Is Hal Sparks
I caught the final show of Celebrity Duets and I was shocked at how really awful a singer he was. He was completely off pitch throughout his song, and it was just frightening to find that he was a finalist - made me wonder what the rest of them sounded like, if America thought HE was better!!!! YIKES!
I won't comment on his homophobia but does anyone else think his acting was downright bad in Queer As Folk?
I did enjoy him on Talk Soup but not on Queer As Folk.
jaily "nice butt, though"
you made me think of this line "nice bead work!"
The overall acting on QUEER AS FOLK was "downright bad" anyway. It wasn't just him.
I think h'es positively adorable.
Not as adorable as Michael Ian Black, though.
Jailyard, you can't really take Datalounge as evidence. They're all insane on there.
You swear like I haven't been a rabid Datalounger for the past five years, honey. :) I know what they're like...I'm one of 'em.
I also know that many of the opinions voiced there are just as valid as the ones voiced here...both websites are populated by people in the industry, and I see no reason why I should put more stock in what complete strangers say HERE more than what complete strangers say THERE. IMHO, the only real difference between the BWW OTB and DL is that there, you can say c*nt.
