Yeah, I've also felt safe using public transportation at night. I had 1 incident where I got back to Penn Station too late to catch a train earlier than 11:49pm. I just stayed in the waiting area patiently for about an hour before my train came. Then I was on the train by myself for an hour and a half and nobody bothered me at all. To be honest, I think being in Dover, NJ alone at night is scarier. I think it's because there is crime there, but less people around than NYC.
And thanks to gas prices, I really really wish I did not have to use a car to get around. I know New Jersey is not bad compared to most of the rest of the United States, but it jumped from an average of about $2.97 a gallon, to $3.25 or more in the past week or 2. Again, I know it isn't as bad as other places, but in a short amount of time, it seems like a lot.
