Quoted on NNDB: "The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand," [Paul] Ryan has said, and he requires that his Congressional staffers read Rand's Atlas Shrugged.
Public service? Ayn Rand?
"There are two novels that can transform a bookish 14-year-kld's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish daydream that can lead to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood in which large chunks of the day are spent inventing ways to make real life more like a fantasy novel. The other is a book about orcs."-- Raj Patel

In Atlas Shrugged Dagny's plane crashes and she's bedridden for a few days. Her host (who caused the crash) charges her rent because no one "gives" something to another in their society. He explains that a husband supports his wife in exchange for "other considerations." There are no children. I can only hope if there were, they'd just have to do chores for their room and board.
And of course the heroine of The Fountainhead falls madly in love with her rapist. She sleeps with some men as a punishment, others to degrade herself but she only likes it when an anonymous granite worker takes her by force.
You might guess Ayn Rand had a peculiar sex life. You'd be right.
