It is when you try to say that they are being treated the same. I guess you are OK with gay bashing but I'm not. Do you support the way Imus was treated? He was fired and hasn't been seen since. It seems it's OK with some of you for Washington to use offensive words but it's not OK for Imus to do the same.

No, it's about the upcoming Anita Bryant Comeback Tour sponsored by Cracker Barrel.
Is it? How so?
well, i was on the fence as to whether to watch "bionic woman" this fall or not. i'm no longer on the fence thanks to this news.
Wait, who said it was okay for Washington to make offensive comments? I don't see anyone saying that in this thread.
it's all kringas' fault. he's always hated "those people!"

Yes, jimnysf, you are absolutely right. I couldn't be more pro gay bashing if my name were Aaron McKinney.
Again, I just don't know what you want. If Imus finds work elsewhere, will you be okay with Washington getting work?
Edit: And I never said they were being treated the the same. But I don't believe it's the same situation. Imus had to mistfortune of making his comment on air. Washington didn't.

Yes. That would be fair. However, will Al Sharpton allow him to find work again. I don't believe he will.
*sigh*
you just don't get it, kringas.

I never get it, it seems.
armageddon it.

Didn't Mr Washington get into trouble because he said this in public? The first time it was "private" but then he said it again after he apologized and he has recently tried to blame the gay person for the situation. It really shouldn't matter where it was said for either of them. The fact is that they said what they said, and the public knows about it. Imus apologized again and again and was fired. Al Sharpton has threatened future Imus employers with boycotts, demonstrations, etc. It just doesn't seem right to me. I don't believe it's OK for either to do what they did but they should be treated the same.
This thread is getting boring.
Go to the "Is Mandy Patinkin Losing His Mind?" on the main board. That's JUICY!
actually, washington did make the faggot remark on the air - at the emmys - months after it originally happened and he had time to reflect on it and saw the response to using the word. and yet he chose to say it again, live, on national television.
well, if al sharpton's involved, imus can forget about it. you know how powerful "those people" are.

We saw what Al Sharpton with Tawana Brawley fantasy and the so-called rape at Duke. Why anyone listens to him at all is a mystery. He is like Nancy Grace. Neither of them deals with the facts.

Wasn't he responding to someone's question? He probably shouldn't have used the word there either, but it's totally not the same context. Right or wrong, he wasn't calling anyone a faggot during the interview session at the Golden Globes.
The big scary black man lost his well paying job on one of the top rated shows on television. I don't understand what more people want out of it, unless they really do wish he would never work again. If that's the case, I really wish that someone would come out and say it.
Jimny, it seems like you're really pissed off about is the fact that there's not a gay equivalent of Al Sharpton in this.
no, he wasn't responding to a question. the creator of the show was speaking and he injected his "comic" remark. no remorse was shown by him. and he didn't lose his job because of his remark, if that were the case abc would not have waited seven months to axe him.

Why did he lose his job?
because he was gay and with tr there already they were over their gay quotient.

So I guess that would make this thread cold as a slab???
I'm surprised no one has brought up Michael Richards yet......
i don't know why he lost his job but the remark was not the only reason - why else would abc wait 7 months to do it? maybe it was money? production costs? anger issues? demands of other stars? who knows.

Perhaps they were worried about being sued for breach of contract.
i think the whole "hostle work environment" thing would trump any talk of breach of contract.

Yeah, I don't know. I wasn't on the set. I wish Katherine Heigl would join the board to set the record straight.
she already is. she posts under her real name, carla.
