"Islamic Jihad" is the name of a specific group, distinct from Hamas. They have been involved in these peace negotiations, and they have actually been more reasonable than Hamas itself, despite their own violent past.

I believe that when the Abscessory is using the term "Islamic Jihad" imprecisely, what he really means to say is either "jihadists" (lowercase) or "Islamists" (the suffix "-ist" indicating someone who wants to use the religion Islam as a political system).

But King Solomon said there is a time for war and a time for peace.

My best friend in college was a Muslim. She was not a Jihadist. You really shouldn't use words you don't understand.

I feel there are two sides to this crisis and clearly the Jewish people in the region and their leaders aren't without their share of the blame. Please try to see both sides.

I think each group needs to recognize their own responsibility (personally, I'd like a day when they just learn to live together. The land really should belong to everyone, IMO.)

You're using the term incorrectly. Islamic Jihad is just one group, based in Lebanon and Gaza. It is not Hamas, it is not the PLO, it is not the Muslim Brotherhood, it is not Al Qaeda (or any of its offshoots), and it is not ISIS.

If you mean "jihadists" (note the lowercase), you mean all Muslims who take on a act of spiritual struggle, not necessarily connected to violence at all. "Jihadist" has come to mean someone who takes on an armed struggle in the name of Islam, but many ordinary Muslims object to that use because they use it to mean a spiritual journey.

You might also mean "Islamists"--which is the term that refers to those who make Islam a political goal.

But, at any rate, "Islamic Jihad" is not what you mean, because you are obviously making a vague reference to a large group and Islamic Jihad is just that small subset in Lebanon and Gaza.

How about a long term truce between all of us here on this site who, with strong feelings about this conflict, have expressed our differing views in recent weeks?

This board really needs some diversity in points of view, however we need it from folks with reading and writing skills above 4th grade level. We haven't had that since Papa left.
