I got to see him a couple of times in the late 70's, and it was pretty jaw-dropping. If he had only done his major impressions individually - Garland, Streisand, Diller and Lee - it would have been amazing. The fact that he did all of them, to the level of proficiency and detail that he did, is almost unbelievable.

romantico, I remember when this video was posted here a long time ago. I had never heard of this man before then. He's great, and even though it was an impersonation, I thought the duet with Carol was very touching.

And that gown is delicious!

I had never heard of him either. A friend sent me a clip of Harvey Korman that was HILARIOUS and I saw this clip on the side. This man is incredible and it looks like he is still going strong. I saw a clip of him from 2006 singing The Way We Were. IS this man an actor? A comedian? A cabaret singer? He is incredible!

I saw Jim as Judy at the Cinegrill in the early '90s.

After about 5 minutes (if that) you forgot you were watching an impression. It was pure theatrical magic.

He is very. . . strange.

Stick with Steven Brinberg if you want a Barbra "impersonator".

Bailey is about as cheesy as Richard Skipper's Carol Channing.

I have never seen Jim Bailey, but I got a chance to meet Craig Russell before he died...What a Great Performer and so kind...Check him out on that other site!!!!

Romantico- thanks for starting this thread. I used to love watching him on the Talk Shows back in the 70's. He is amazing. I wasn't sure if he was still alive because you don't hear about him much anymore. What a talent!

I had the great fortune to see him perform, and I remember when he came out as Judy, I sat there amazed. The voice, the look, the humor, was all there and done to perfection.

As a kid I used to get so excited when he was on Mike Douglas or whatever.

I know it's kind of cheating, because she's actually a woman, but the most amazing Judy impersonator I've ever seen is Julie Sheppard. She did a thing at Don't Tell Mama where the notion was that Judy was rehearsing for Carnegie Hall and has just wandered into a piano bar afterward. It was kind of spooky--and magical.
