James Levine leaves Tanglewood

James Levine has withdrawn from the rest of his engagements with the BSO at Tanglewood for the summer because of a cyst on one of his kidneys; he is going immediately into surgery.

Peter Gelb sent an e-mail out to all of us at the Met today. Mr. Levine should be back in time for the first on-stage opera rehearsal, which is on 9/18.
