Posted: 4/29/09 at 10:15pmWTF was that? A number one song??? You could barely hear him, hardly any lyrics, and just plain awful. And HE was the mentor this week? The finalists should have mentored him. Natalie Cole didn't fare much better i must say. The number "singing" one show in America and THIS is what they present?

It was terrible.
But that is the popular mainstream trend.
What did you expect?

Posted: 4/29/09 at 11:34pmI can't express in words how much I despise Jamie Foxx and his arrogant, egotistical, racist self. And as for being a mentor?? That's just a joke! He didn't even sing! It sounded like a computerized voice the entire time! Ugh! Gross.

"He didn't even sing! It sounded like a computerized voice the entire time!"
Technically, it IS his voice. It is called Auto-Tune. lots of rappers & pop artists use it. it NOT the same thing that Britney and other "vocalists" do (using a computer to digitally clean/alter any flat or sharp notes).
it more of a hip hop/rap/r&b trend, to add a new electronic feel & sound. it is very popular.
Perfect auto-tuning on the spot is extremely hard (done with a keyboard and computer) so I'm not sure he was singing live for the first half of that song.
But my point is... he technically was singing. It isn't fake or digitally created. It is just distorted with auto-tune.

I actually thought Taylor Hicks sounded excellent.
And what was with Jamie Foxx's "black girls" comment?
