Posted: 3/31/10 at 5:37pmLong overdue. I have done some school tours and the cafeterias smell worse each year. Kinda sad/telling it has to be on TV though. One question. Is he also exploring vegetarianism with these schools? Cause honestly, not only would one veggie lunch a week at school help but the schools need to be educated as well. At most schools the Vegetarian option is a PBJ until you get to high school and then it's a recockulous iceberg lettuce salad. As a vegetarian I find these schools lack of knowledge disgusting.

If my college has no clue of how to define and give students/staff vegetarian options, judging by the school featured I shudder what they think. I think the radio host's lettuce comment reflected much of the town.
And if the HS was anything like my HS then it needs major help. The popular lunch item was not going to the regular lunch-line but going to the alternative line of buying cheese fries, pizza sticks, chocolate chip cookies, Snapple, etc. This was the norm and usually it was all on one paper plate. I was put on a diet by my doctor so I never bought anything from my school and brought stuff from home.
