Saw Janet in Toronto in September. Honestly, Janet is in great voice, but the show is cheap and terrible. The setlist is misleading. The entire first half before the DJ set was 30 minutes. All the hits are medleys-it's awful. She then takes a break mid-set and the show runs a tight 90 minutes-started at 8pm, on the street by 9:30pm. After seeing Madonna bust her ass for 2 hours and 15 minutes Janet looked even more lame. I'm not sure where the good reviews are coming from. Everyone I was around was pissed.
Also, the stage is small and low. I had 8th row center floor and could only see her from the waist up. Totally disappointing since the new album is divine. Save your money on this one.
Frankly, I think she planned a Vegas show and then took it on the road.
I am going tonight. I wish I was feeling a little better. Been fighting something off all week and I still feel a little icky.
Dame, I hope you feel better. Please report back. At least its a shorter show so hopefully you can hang in there.
Bettyboy, I'm really surprised to hear about the brevity of the show. When we saw her during the #1's tour she sang over 2 hours, if I'm remembering correctly. I guess we'll see for ourselves when we see her tomorrow night!
Dame I also hope you feel better and get to enjoy the show!
Saw the show in San Diego last night and mostly loved it. She was on stage for right around 100 minutes, which I agree is a little short. However, her breaks during that 100 minutes were fairly short, so I didn't feel too cheated. I agree that there could have been less medleys, but at least toward the end of the show she did full versions of her classics (loved the new arrangement of "Together Again" at the start of that song). I would have liked more selections from Unbreakable, but hopefully she'll add more for the second leg of the tour. Janet still has incredible energy, and never stops dancing through all of the uptempo numbers. Viejas Arena was completely sold out, and it was a blast seeing Janet amongst such an enthusiastic and exuberant crowd. No one around us were complaining (we had floor seats). The whole atmosphere made the "cheapness" of the production less important to me, and I've rarely been interested in attending concerts just for their production value. Can't wait to see her next year at a couple of her stops in Texas.
I had a blast at the concert Friday night. Show was about 2 hours long. Probably because before the last encore they presented Janet with a award ( Platinum record or something like that) for breaking sales in albums and charts. The show was a dance-a-thon. And by the way... NO LIP-SYNCHING! I didn't notice cheap production values as someone else mentioned. The show was more about the performance than anything else and I was happy for that. The atmosphere was electric. Everyone was up on their feet dancing. I had a real cute guy in the seat right next to me. He was dancing and sweating with us all night. That definitely added to the fun. Can't wait to see this tour again at the Hollywood Bowl.
Dame, I'm glad you had as much fun as we did. We had heard about the presentation that you mentioned and saw a video of it online (sorry I don't have the link). There was a lot of dancing around us as well and everyone had huge smiles on their faces throughout the festivities.
On a side note, that album just gets better with each listen. My new favorite song this week is " The Great Forever." The chorus has a hook that I can't get out of my head. Classic Janet.

Janet is postponing her tour due to surgery, until the Spring. All dates are suppose to be rescheduled. She had dates all through the end of June. Several dates to reschedule. I hope my new date is one that I can still go. Probably new date is around August.

My date is postponed. They have not announced the new date. Janet stated if we hold on to our tickets we will be rewarded. Probably a copy of her cd. Hopefully, not a digital copy.
I bet the UK dates ain't rescheduled, the show was not selling here.

Song, the UK dates are after April, right? If she cancels for lack of ticket sales that is a different matter. The shows that are being rescheduled due to her surgery, are the ones from January to March. There are shows that were close to sold out, (mine wasn't) that are also being rescheduled.
As of right now, the Hollywood Bowl show in May is not cancelled.
My date was postponed, and it was one of the shows close to being sold out. I really hope she reschedules for the spring like her statement mentioned. I'm moving over the summer, and I'd hate to miss her.
My date in February is postponed. They have not announced the new date but I sure hope it will be on a day I can go! I have seen every Janet tour including the Rhythm Nation tour 3 times back in the 80's. I have seen Janet in concert almost 20 times and was really looking forward to this tour.

Janet has now cancelled her rescheduled European dates. Although she states they will be rescheduled, again, ticketholders were sent emails for refund and told there would be no rescheduling. I still have my ticket for my new date in August, but something tells me this tour may be kaput.
I had nearly forgotten that she hits the half century mark this year. It's a major milestone in life for many.
Yeah I told you the UK dates would not go ahead, it sold lousy here as well as across Europe

I'd be surprised if the US dates go off without a hitch.
There are too many shows with too few off days.
The routing of the tour is horrible.

Similar schedule to what her other tours did.

Yes, similar but she is also older.

It is also not as grueling a show as her others. No costume or set changes. Very simple.

Hopefully there will be no more cancellations or postponements.

Well, as of this morning she is "postponing" again. She states her and her husband are in the process of having a family. Her doctors tell her to rest. She doesn't mention anything about rescheduling. So are we supposed to wait, again, nine or more months? If they are allowing it, I'm just getting my money back.

The tour isn't selling. She never promoted the album or the tour. Her husband wants her to keep a low profile and she doesn't need the money. I thought the tour was a half baked mess anyhow. I'm glad a lot of people will be getting refunds than having to sit through this.
