Here's the trailer for the unnecessary remake of Poltergeist.
Also, I think it's kinda creepy how they cast a girl who looks exactly like Heather O'Rourke.

Harris is creepy.
I can't wait. It's a story that should adapt well to our technological society

It doesn't look like they adapted anything. It appears they just remade the original.
They even kept the same dialogue.

Posted: 2/6/15 at 10:37amFrom everything I've read and heard (mainly from Sam Rockwell), this is very different from the original. The way he's been describing it, he's made it sound like a family friendly horror film told through a child's perspective. So I was kind of surprised when I saw the trailer yesterday and it actually didn't suck. In fact, I'm really looking forward to it now.

Same movie, higher tech but significantly less appealing leads --Sam Rockwell is just no substitute for Craig T. Nelson. And not to get all xenophobic or anything, but weren't there any weird-looking American actors they could have cast instead of Jared Harris?
Into the Wait For HBO file with it.

"...a family friendly horror film told through a child's perspective."
I haven't seen the original in many years but that's just what I remember it being.

Posted: 2/6/15 at 4:22pmIt may well be intended for all ages but based on the trailer, I won't be taking any 7-year-olds.

I was hopeful for this after reading what Sam Rockwell had to say about it but it looks really, really bad.
And the original was considered a family friendly horror movie. At least it was sold that way. It was PG and had the Spielberg brand name. I remember going to see it for a friends 10th birthday party.

Posted: 2/7/15 at 5:55pmIt's disheartening when a filmmaker remakes a film without understanding what made the original work. When Rubenstein shows up in the original everything about her screams WEIRD. You KNOW she is just flat out odd and there is NO CHANCE she is the one sane person in the midst of all this. Having a muscle-bound, take charge authority in that role completely ruins the fun.
