I have a feeling sh*t is about to hit the fan. This can't be good for the movie, considering all of the gay fans. Not to mention the fact that Hudson has appeared on the cover of 2 gay magazines in the past week.
I have to admit, my excitement for seeing her performance has waned a little.

She easily could have been misquoted just like Carol Channing was.
And why are there so many question marks in the article?
i don't think that article condemns her to be as homophobic or bigoted as one may guess after reading the title of this thread...

"I said gay was a sin. I invented 'gay is a sin.' And they couldn't even call me for a cameo in the movie? Why can't Jennifer and I BOTH say gay is a sin? Why can't we say it togther?" -- Donna Summer

Some way, somehow this will be Beyonce's fault.

There was no editorializing in the title of the thread. That was the statement she made. And apparently she believes it, because "that's what it says in the Bible." Just because your beliefs are "from the Bible" does not mean those beliefs are not bigoted or homophobic.

As a Baptist who’s singing at circuit party, has Hudson reconciled her spiritual beliefs and her gay fan base? Does she support same-sex marriage?
“Nobody has ever asked me these questions,” she says.
She didn't say "yes" or "no." That doesn't automatically mean something.
“Everybody sins,” Hudson continues. “No sin is greater or different than the other. To each his own. If it don’t bother Jennifer, then Jennifer don’t mind. I don’t really even think about it because I don’t believe in judging people for what they do.”
She isn't judging anyone. She says that whatever people do is up to them
But did Hudson just say that being gay is a sin?
Nope.
“According to the way we’re taught, and what it says in the Bible — it is,” Hudson says.
She made a comment, *whether you feel it's true or false is up to you* However, nowhere did it say that she doesn't accept them.
If her answers didn’t already sound like fundamentalist clichés, Hudson then added, “I have plenty of gay friends.”
Again, she was making a statement. However, how the interviewer/author perceived it is another story.
Let's not jump to conclusions.
Michael Bennett would probably jump out from his coffin...

I hear Anika Noni Rose is anti-Semitic.
People say Liza Minnelli can be very anti-Estonian when she's drunk.

Well, as for what I learned in journalism, it's an unfair question because her answer, "According to the way we’re taught, and what it says in the Bible — it is,” the question she was originally asked was "Is it a sin?" She never explicitly said the words "Gay is a sin", and even so, the way she said it and the way she backed up what she said makes me respect her.
Okay, so she's true to her religion and follows what she was taught, that it's bad and all. Fine. But she backs it up by basically saying she couldn't care less! She's done nothing wrong, in my opinion -- the article is just trying to stir up controversy.
I could say that according to the class rules, chewing gum isn't allowed. Does that mean I'm totally out to get gum-chewers, and demeaning everything about gum chewing? She's acknowledging, but respecting. Good for her.

Perfect post thevolleyballer!
You said exactly what I was trying to say but you did it 100X better!
Thank you

Oh please. When asked about gay marriage, her response was "Everybody sins." I don't need a yes or no answer to understand how she feels.
So, you're equating gays with gum chewing?
wasn't this an episode of "studio 60" a few weeks ago with sarah paulson's character, harriet hayes, being in EXACTLY the same situation now as hudson?
i know aaron sorkin is good but i didn't know he also predicts the future!

Lol, StageManager, you know what I mean. She's acknowledging that, with what she was taught, something is "against the rules", but she's also saying that she, quite frankly, doesn't mind people breaking them. If that makes sense.
And thanks, SweetQ.
"Gay is a sin" says Hudson as she (a woman) chows down on some shellfish and wears a garment made with mixed fabrics. (Instead of being covered head-to-toe, submitting to her master, and paying 'Caesar' what is due to 'Caesar'.)
*wink, wink*

from "nevada: day 1" of "studio 60" originally aired on 11/6/06:
(after an interview, where Harriet was asked her views on gay marriage)
Harriet: I said the Bible says it's a sin. It also says judge not lest ye be judged, and that it was something for smarter people than me to decide.
Matt: "Ye" is a word you don't hear a lot.
Harriet: How do you manage to see every piece of my press?
Matt: We have a press department, I get a daily press packet. They highlight what they want me to see - this one got a highlight, an arrow and a sticker!
Harriet: Well, as I said, they left out the second sentence.
Matt: Yeah, can I ask you something? Does your ass hurt from straddling the fence like that all the time?
BTW: kevs, Jennifer didn't actually say "Gay is a sin," so you shouldn't quote her as such.
She's mentioned this before; I don't see how this qualifies as news.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it helps gay rights for people to still cling to the idea that homosexuality is a SIN in the eyes of God.
These 'folks' who believe it is a sin aren't necessarily "rallying" for gay rights when they refer to the Bible (more specifically a passage from Leviticus...the most insane part of the entire book) in published interviews that contradict the beliefs of many (Christians, Jews, etc.) that homosexuality is, in fact, not a sin nor a disorder.
If 'they' take the approach like it seems Jennifer is taking in this article, I can absolutely understand why a fan of hers who happens to be gay would take offense or even become disheartened. She is (like RobbO's quote) riding the fence to be safe.
But she may have been misquoted, and I find written words over the internet or in news publications NEVER effectively communicate a person's feelings. I prefer to see their face or hear their voice. I can detect bullsh*t in those circumstances. :)
