It's true, Jay. Not that I was there, but Jerry has talked about it.
Jerry said that he took Jackie to a gay bar one night. That must have been a hoot!
Sounds like the scene from Applause (at least in my mind). I think she was incognito at the time, though, which makes sense. According to him, she said she wanted to see what a gay bar was like.
The film is not debuting in theatres; it is airing via HBO. Perhaps in theatres in Europe?
Have they confirmed it's going to HBO first, before a theatrical release? I thought that was still up in the air, fflagg.
HBO Films has released theatrically before, and I heard they were waiting to decide after they saw the final cut of this.
But then neither Lange nor Barrymore would be eligible for an OScar nomination. Look at Linda Fiorentino. THE LAST SEDUCTION originally aired on HBO before being released theatrically, and I recall there being a hoopla about whether Fiorention's electrifying performance would be nominated. She wasn't.
It's all about the order it airs. If it's released theatrically first, for one week, before it airs on TV, it would be eligible for Oscars.
If it airs on TV first, it's ineligible.
