Just saw Jose Manuel Carrenos as Ali, the slave in Le Corsaire at the Met Opera House last night. Boy, he's on fire!!
Here's to another amazing ABT season at the Met!
You must see him opposite Julie Kent in "Giselle". The two of them together just brings tears to my eyes.
I saw Jose and Julie in Giselle last year! Unforgettable.
But apparently, Angel Corella & Diana Vishneva Giselle casting was amazing as well. I'm not gonna miss that pairing this season.
Stop making me jealous (LOL)! As I know longer live in NYC, it's very difficult to see them during their season at the Met. I noticed that Angel isn't on their schedule much this season.
Angel told me he's starting a new company in Madrid, Spain. He sounded very excited about that. I just can't imagine ABT without him though!! I wonder how plans are going for his company; he told me this news late last year so with the industry, who knows what happened...he performed as Ali the slave two days ago.
Umm, I could use some JMC this weekend.
That would be yum.
Anyone gonna watch Jose in "Giselle"?
I'm a bit torn because Malakhov is dancing Albrecht the night before Carreno...I saw Jose dance Albrecht last year, would love to see Malakhov dance it as well (He was sick last year with appendicitis)
Yes - Correno
No - Malakhov
I think Malakov is an amazing dancer, but Jose is definitely sexier
I find Malakhov disturbing.
He's too androgynous for my taste.
I can definitely see why you think he's androgynous, Glebb...Malakov has an amazing extension (IMO), which makes him a dancer with a feminine quality. Malakov's extension just fascinates me, I don't think any male dancer dances like Malakov.
I agree with you mint. :)
And I think we both agree that Jose is one sexy man! :)
Yeppers.
I got to stand backstage and watch him as the Prince in Swan Lake a few summers ago and what warmth and kindness he projects.
He's such a gentle, masculine dancer, isn't he?
I saw his wife the other day...what a lucky woman!
any thoughts on when he may retire? He is the same age as Julio Bocca, who is retiring this year.
Makes me nervous to think of Jose retiring....but there was an article in the Times that listed Jose as one of the guys who may be retiring in a few years.
