I just wrote an actual LETTER, with paper, envelope and stamp to two old friends I haven't seen in years.
I don't have their email address so I decided to do it the old-fashioned way.
I can't remember the last time I did that. Christmas Cards and thank you notes, excluded. I'm all "electronic" now.
It's been at least two years!

Speaking of words...the term "terry cloth" comes from the French verb tirer, which means "to hold."

If the husband from "Rose is Rose" is always trying to get his wife to eat more because he has sexual fantasies about her being fat...
And if the titular character's seemingly single mother is basically an overweight version of her...
Why doesn't the husband just dump his wife for her mother?
That would leave Rose free to ride her motorcycle off into the sunset, on her way to make a bowl of rattlesnake chili.
(never give an opening like this, Addy!

"Miss Pennywise" is Penelope Pennywise from Urinetown. She is called "Miss Pennywise" throughout the show by Bobby Strong.
That's where it comes from!
(Not some guy named "Terry.")

Posted: 2/16/08 at 4:20pmI was really sad yesterday because I was at my local Best Buy and realized that the CD section continues to get smaller. I know that we now live in a "downloadable" society, but golly I miss thumbing through rows of actual CD's at my leisure. I'll even go further. I miss record stores like Tower and "mom & pop" local music stores. Some of my fondest college memories were spending hours in a local record store and discovering then-unknowns the Police, B-52's, Clash, and Talking Heads. That store is long-gone. Are today's kids missing out on an important life experience? In my opinion, iTunes is a poor replacement for this. Sorry about the rant and I know I'm a little old-fashioned.

I love iTunes too, but I still miss the "good old days" lol (darn I'm old).
Change of subject: it's a monsoon here in Texas. I just hope the electricity stays on (thunderboomers everywhere).

I think iTunes is handy, but I like having the physical CD and booklet.
I just watched ALL ABOUT EVE last night. Loved it! Especially George Sanders.

ALL ABOUT EVE is first on my list of Top Ten American films. George Sanders is perfection.

A mattress with that kind of sentence on it could have a few meanings...
Besty, I can just see you at your desk with your feathered quill and goblet o' merlot.

Fun stuff!
Here's a question:
If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter 'A'?
(No searching online for the answer!)

Wow!
Minnesota couple marks 83rd wedding anniversary.
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. — A couple from White Bear Lake celebrated 83 years of marriage Sunday, possibly setting a record.
The Guinness Book of World Records was researching the possibility that Clarence and Mayme Vail qualify as the longest-married couple alive.
“It’s unbelievable,” Mayme Vail told WCCO-TV.
Clarence Vail is 101 years old, and Mayme is 99. They were teenagers when they married in 1925, when Calvin Coolidge was president. And they’ve known each other even longer, meeting when they were in the 8th grade in Hugo, Minn.
“He had gone through the 8th grade in the other school, then he comes to our school — smart as a whip,” said Mayme Vail, who still exercises and participates in Bible study classes at the assisted living center where the couple now resides.
The Vails had six grandchildren, 39 grandchildren and 101 great-grandchildren. Mayme Vail said the key to a long marriage is patience and humility.
“You’ve got to admit you’re wrong now and then,” she said. “I’ve had to do it.”
What a wonderful story!
(What would the gift be for the 83rd?!)
